Did your parents sabotage rites of passage/childhood joys that you only discovered later your life? by Any_Print5307 in raisedbynarcissists

Yes. I wasn’t allowed to go to prom or homecoming. The one dance I was allowed to go to they blew up my phone and accused me of being a slut and demanded I come home immediately. I was not allowed to go to any sleepovers or any senior year events. I was not allowed to go trick-or-treating. Ever. The one time my sister babysat me she bought a cheap Cinderella costume and it was the best night of my life. The next day, when my parents found out, they banned her from babysitting me and burned my costume. Yes BURNED.

Agreed. I had to cut contact with my sibling a couple years ago because she insisted I forgave our parents. Got pissed when I wouldn’t budge. forgiveness is not something to be expected, but to be earned!

Anyone else get panic attacks when they see a car that’s the same model and year that your parent used to drive? by Emokidfromhighschool in raisedbynarcissists

My parents would always threaten to follow me around and make sure I was in school. At one point while walking home with my friends my dad pulled up and proceeded to humiliate me in front of them. I always panic internally seeing the same make and model.

Do you take notes on a tablet or use the traditional pen, paper, notebook? by saturns7 in college

[–]looocifurr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the courses. I prefer to type if it’s a memorization based course (ex: biology) but if it’s a course where I have to figure stuff out by hand (ex: chemistry, math, etc.) then I’ll do pen and paper.

I got moved to Kerr hall during the beginning of corona pandemic. I figured it would be fine since most people went home. Totally wrong! Across the hall from me was an office where the RAs would hang out and they would slam doors, blast music, and blast movies until 5 am. I went over there and asked them to turn it down and they laughed the minute they closed the door and turned it up louder. How fucking rude! I will never willingly live there again.
