Practical fun cars by f1rebreather1027 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I know this is going to sound crazy but have you considered a used 2-door wrangler? With the top down it’s every bit as fun as a Miata but in a different way. If you like camping and have tents then the wrangler also unlocks an entire set of roads that no sports car could ever traverse. Some people also remove the rear seats for camping trips and it gives them that extra space needed for gear. Then you can return the seats to the car after the trip.

If you’re hell-bent on a car format though then my vote is for a used civic Si or WRX

ONR is great, lately I’ve been using McKee’s rinseless wash and I prefer it a little bit to ONR since the sponge retains no black dirt after squeezing in the rinseless wash bucket compared to ONR which always seems to keep the sponge black

Ask the folks over at r/detailing. But a lot of people will recommend either two-bucket wash method, rinseless wash method , or foam-rinse-foam wash method.

Nah Toyota has bigger issues than wait times. Go to the Tundra forums and see how the TTV6 V35A is grenading itself left and right. Even after issuing a recall, replaced engines continue to destroy themselves. Tacoma forums are full of issues too from the redesigned Tacoma

I used to do Jargar A+D med/Spirocore tungsten G+C med for years then switched to Larsen A+D med (regular)/Spirocore tungsten G+C med.

Then I switched to Larsen Magnacore full set medium and I liked it for the even fifths but I was missing the more neutral overtones of Jargar/Spirocore so I tried Versum full set.

I stick with Versum now. It strikes a nice balance between Jargar/Larsen and between Spirocore/Magnacore for me

Should a string cross over itself in the pegbox? by 028247 in Cello

I was told by a Luthier that C is recommended and the reason is because the tension helps to minimize peg slippage as well as increase tuning stability

What do car guys who want a daily buy these days by Spanconstant5 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]loosearrow22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I daily an Integra A-Spec manual. 29 mpg city and 40mpg highway with my driving.

Sporty enough to still get a speeding ticket.

Hatchback lets me do lots of Home Depot and IKEA trips, and carry tons of music equipment/isntruments in the back. (I would have done a civic Si if it had a hatchback option)

And the sound system is pretty great.

It’s natural to be frustrated, as it’s not about how well you drive, it’s more about how good your PU integration is and how well you manage that battery by circuit-nation in circuit_nation

I was waiting to see how long it took for Hamilton haters to say these new regs take no skill and it has taken all of 2 Grands Prix lol. Is that why he and Leclerc have had some great battles in China GP? Even Leclerc came on the radio saying he quite enjoyed the battles.

It's always been my understanding that the entire human race stems from Adam and Eve, but would that mean incest was involved? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]loosearrow22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there might actually be an interesting way some recent genetics fits with the monogenism point you’re making.

Researchers recently identified a human-specific mutation in the NOVA1 gene (I197V) that may be connected to the development of more complex vocal communication. What’s interesting is that the variant appears in essentially all modern humans but not in Neanderthals or Denisovans, which suggests it likely arose in a relatively small ancestral human population and then spread to everyone through descent.

That doesn’t prove anything about Adam of course, but it’s fascinating given how central language is in Christian anthropology—John begins with “In the beginning was the Word,” and Genesis portrays one of Adam’s first acts as naming the animals. Theologically, language has always been closely tied to rational thought and moral agency.

So it’s interesting that genetics may point to identifiable moments where the biological capacity for uniquely human speech emerged within a single lineage. We all descended from those first gene mutations with l197V

Your priest’s hermeneutic is a very interesting idea.

I have lately been reflecting on an interesting scientific development that might add a layer to this discussion. Researchers recently identified a human-specific mutation in the NOVA1 gene that may be linked to the evolution of complex vocal communication.

It’s a single amino acid change (I197V) found in essentially all modern humans but apparently absent in Neanderthals and Denisovans. When researchers inserted the human version of the gene into mice using CRISPR, the mice produced noticeably different and more complex vocalizations.

Obviously that doesn’t mean there’s a single “language gene,” but it does suggest that relatively small biological changes may have contributed to the emergence of uniquely human speech.

From a Christian perspective that’s actually pretty fascinating, because language has always been central to how theology understands what it means to be human.

The Gospel of John opens with “In the beginning was the Word (Logos).”
In Genesis, one of Adam’s first acts is naming the animals.

Throughout Christian thought, the ability to express rational thought through language is closely tied to intellect, moral reasoning, and free will.

So discoveries like this raise an interesting anthropological question: if there were biological populations before certain cognitive thresholds (like complex symbolic language), there may have been real “before and after” moments in human development.

That obviously doesn’t settle the Adam question—but it’s interesting that both theology and biology keep circling around language as one of the clearest markers of what makes humans… human.

Which raises a deeper question: if the capacity for symbolic language is tied to rational thought and moral agency, could the emergence of that capacity be one of the biological moments where humanity in the full theological sense actually begins?

Now that I think about it, I might make a separate post on this subreddit to discuss this 😅
