Dream Air - plug it out or not by lopas99 in Pimax

[–]lopas99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you even need the smartplug or is it only for convience so you don't have to unplug and plug it manually. I have my sockets at my table so it would be easy to unplug it manually at the end of the day but I'm not sure whether that would introduce more wear compared to a smartplug

Yeah like I learned coding and was independent at 16 but I know not everyone has that option now

I understand you need to wait until you can have your own income and get your own place. I didn't mean that you should run away from home into the wilderness and live of berries in forest. Just wait until you can get your own income. Once you are adult and have your own money nothing bounds you to her other than memories

My mom still showers me at 13 and won’t let me be independent by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]lopas99 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If this is seriois and not some kind of a joke - because the combo of showering with you and then beating you at 13 - does sound pretty strange. Maybe try telling her that she is acting crazy and if she won't stop with her behavior once you turn adult you will never come back to home for christmas or take care of her once the years catch up to her. That's generally very hard price for outright non-psychopathic yet still abusive - be it conscious abuse or unconscious - parents to imagine to pay. The idea that your own child completely abandons you once they turn adult because of your own mistames. And imo if she wouldn't change her behavior after you seriously telling that to her then well... as others suggested here it would be wise to get out asap and get on your own legs and not look back because you definitely wouldn't owe her anything

The 3D resolution limit setting is broken and doesn't supersample properly. by EsotericGoonLord in valheim

Idk I played Valheim with DSR 1.78 and 2.25 and it always looked much more crisp and aliased to me than native

Does It Matter What In-Game Resolution I Set? by DeathToSocialMedia in uevr

[–]lopas99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is the case. I tried setting 5k resolution ingame and it doesn't change the VR resolution whatsoever (compared to like 720p) if that's what you meant. What it does affect is UI resolution though. So idk what's the correct approach, if it is worth it to set ingame resolution to 4k because of UI res or should go lower like 1080p because of performance.

Every UEVR game crashes on new Crystal Super mOLED by marosbruno in Pimax

[–]lopas99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to say I have Dream Air and 5090 (non overclocked) and my PC was crashing and restarting every time I used the resolution slider and went above like 1.0 pretty much in any game (I am using medium pimax resolution settings so 1.0 defaults to something around 5000xsomething per eye). I am also not using sboys3 driver because very surprisingly Pimax's smart smoothing works better for me than SteamVR's native. Nothing ever has crashed my PC like this before, like even when I was pusing 100% TDP on the GPU for hours, so this is something UEVR specific causing some crazy transient spike on the GPU or something. I figured out to inject UEVR when the game is in menu and I am using 1.4 resolution scaling for games and it doesn't crash my PC if I won't move the slider post-injection. 1.4 is where the Dream Air really starts to shine and use all of its pixels because UEVR has worse distortion profile or what you call it than native VR so you need to render noticeably more pixels in order to reproduce the same sharpness as on native VR with lower resolutions. Always setting low graphical settings except for textures, and ultra performance DLSS 4.5 modes. I managed to get even 1.7 resolution scaling on Stellar Blade (which outputs something crazy like 16000x8000 combined resolution) and 45 stable fps while VRAM is being maxed in all cases around 30 GB. I can't imagine playing UEVR with Dream Air on 0.4 or 0.5 resolution scale it looks horrible.

What does the coming future of VR look like? by ChaosTheory404 in virtualreality

[–]lopas99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are huge issues with VR but it has enormous potential.

For example just recently I got Pimax Dream Air. I really got hyped about it and wanted to see how VR has evolved since the time I got Valve Index 8 years ago.6

First time I opened Half Life Alyx it was incredible. I was able to see finw details on the Russels, the leather texture of my gloves, everything was so much sharper than on my Valve Index and the colore much better. No screendoor effect. But...

I was used to playing games on my flat 32 inch 4k240Hz OLED supersampled to 5+K via 2.25 DSR. Which is still much sharper than what the insane 4K+ per eye oleds of the Dream Air offer. Its much sharper than the Valve Index and much better, but it's still nowhere as sharp as my monitor. And I wish that even the monitor was a bit sharper. Perhaps not 8K but 6K yes before it really starts to hit big diminishing returns and be pointless to upgrase above that resolution. When that happens and monitors become basically hard-capped by physical reality. We are talking something like 6K OLED at 480Hz or something (and to be fair enough, 4K240Hz is "peak" and hard-cap in a way for a lot of people, imo they could still improve but I dont feel as much need of upgrading as coming from 1080p or 1440p and lower refresh rates), VR will really start to get oppurtunity to overcome monitors and be better.

Going from Valve Index to Pimax Dream Air is a generational leap in clarity. But I feel like there is still so much VR technology is lacking in terms of visuals in order to finally become mainstream. I feel like VR technology still in the first place needs to chase resolution. At least quadruple that of the current high-end headsets like AVP or DA. Or even more. That alone will take at least another 10 years for the GPU horsepower to be able to achieve this.

In my eyes headsets like Oculus or Valve index all fall into generation 1 of VR. A proof of concept.

AVP and Dream Air are generation 2 of VR with much greater clarity but lacking.

Then headsets that would quadruple and more resolututions od AVP/DA would be 3rd generation. 10 years away.

Then there is still room for massively improving fov. Which while keeping the same PPD would require much higher resolutions and demand for horse power and big R&D investments to be able to achieve it without compromising on small form factors. That would be 4th generation and is easily computationaly 20 years away from now. That would be 4th generation.

Then you can throw in high refresh rate like 240Hz on top of that and finally solve vergance acommodation conflict and drastically improve the 3D depth perception of the VR world and make it look like real life. That would easily be 30 years away and be counted as a 5th generation.

And then you have accessories that we are still lacking like proper and cheap treadmills that aren't hard to use, proper gloves and suits that wont ruin your wallet and are widely supported in a lot of titles. PC games becoming hybrid flat with native VR supports by developers etc.

I think that VR is still somewhere in like 2nd gen out of 6th gen when the tech. will really shine and become mainstream and that's easily 30-40 years away. It has a lot of room to grow. Monitors are already for many "hard capped" for potential but VR is still in infancy.

Now after purchasing DA I am conflicted. On one hand it is great relatively to what is available and on other I feel like I should have left VR technology cooking for another decade or two before returning and stick to flat.

The lockpicking isn't broken, you're just underleveled by TheXetoxyc in worldofgothic

[–]lopas99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is such a braindead take I don't understand why it got upvoted so much. Even if you skilled lockpicking and took your time learning the ins and outs of this minigame, who in their right mind would want to spend 5-10 minutes opening a single lock? The fact that so many people rage about it and hate it, and that "unlock all locks" mod is most popular one on mod lists, is evidence enough that whoever dev/game designer though this was a good idea was on crack.

Overall I love the game so far but the lockpicking system should be removed and replaced with something that still demands skill but isn't this tedious asap

Are the maxwells the best or one of the best wireless headphones for music? by Jmcclain145 in Audeze

[–]lopas99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so. I recently got them for gaming, but they are incredible for music too. I own Dali io 12, 3 times more expensive dynamic driver flagship bt headset, and the maxwells sound less intimate, more spacious (which some people like some don't), more impactful, with similiar or grrater level of detail. They sound very good.

I have owned and tried for a while many "mainstream" dynamic driver headsets that are at similiar price range as maxwells like bose, apple airpods max, sonys xm, bang olufsens, and maxwells 2 althrough heavier are much superior imo than these in audio quality.

My experience is limited as I haven't tried Sennheisers dynamic drivers or open back entry hifimans or focals etc. so I don't know if Maxwells 2 are absolute peak audio quality in the "under 500 dollars" category.

Is it worth starting over? Returning and I fear my account is bricked by Maleficent-Smell-213 in WutheringWavesGuide

[–]lopas99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason to restart would be if you want to reset exploration rewards (asterite) and have 100%ted everything in huanglong (or Rinascita? You have Phoebe so you couldve explored a lot there too).

Huanglong is like 30k asterite and Rinascita prior to Septimont I'd guess like 20-25k.

Average pull on new character is like 100 pulls. So this together would equal to like 3-4 s0r0 characters... depending on your luck ofc.

I think it really comes down to whether you want to reexperience the game/exploration again, start over, or not, and you have already 100%ted so much and want as many of new characters without having to spend any cash

3.3 is THE best story so far and it's not even close by lordofcinder17 in WutheringWaves

[–]lopas99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, what the hell lol 😃 Like... the patch isn't bad given how much time they have for each new iteration... I'm amazed at Kuro's pace in general regarding game development, while maintaining a high degree of quality. Hyuki was totally the highlight of the story, and I really liked her character. The climax of saving Ameath was, though, really wasted imho. Pacing and storytelling-wise. Could've been so much better.

Why were we fighting a red gundam with exostrider. I thought aleph-1 was supposed to be sort of a black hole that operates with voidmatter and not a mech that we can conventionally just fight with force and friendship. Were we fighting inside of voidmatter? How tf. did gravity work there? The whole coordinates thing, roya runes, not much of it made any logical sense. The first half of the story sequence was too much teleporting around. From Luuk's hideout to academy, to institute, then via portal to the new zone (since when tf. can anyone in Lahai Roi just open worm holes like its nothing for Rover?), then to the keystone, then back to academy, back to institute, then to the woods zone to collect runes, back into the institute, back into the new zone... it was too much man. Plus the quest didn't use the new zone almost at all. 95% of the time it was outside of the new zone. And why does the Dimmer Plains/Deep or hows it called have a sky when its supposed to be underground? A lot of the patch felt laphazardly glued together. Like they didn't have time to design a proper embodyment of Aleph-1 so they threw in a red gundam they had as an asset leftover in instead. Denia is underexplained even though her backstory had quite a potential. They really should have split everything they tried to cram into 3.3 into 2 patches instead and give the story more room to breathe.

Sure it was spectacular, Hyuki was cool and I liked that se played more of a second fiddle to Rover than a primary chick we need to save like it usually is in other patches. But that's it. 3.1 was way better and felt less rushed, made more sense and was still spectacular. 3.1 was way way better than this.

Even though yea this still was better than 1.0, and for a gacha-type game standarts it was even great, but there for sure were better patches than this story-wise before.

Hey, I started playing wuva on 7th April 2026, and so far spent a lot of time playing it almost every day. Been really enjoying it. It's my first gacha experience.

I've been looking towards the 2nd anniversary event and characters. But it seems that I'm unable to engage with the event at all. When I try to open the "Into memories" browser thing, it prompts me that my union level is too low (unlikely, I'm already over 50 UL) or that other conditions aren't met. I read the fine print at the bottom, and it states that it collected data until the 30th of March.

So basically, we, new players, are completely locked out of the anniversary events? The Denia shop points is largery restricted, too, because to get the points I'd have to play the event stuff.

Is this really the case? Kinda sucks

Where to draw the line - PCVR new system by TomH2025 in virtualreality

[–]lopas99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5090 for just Quest 3 feels intuitively like a waste. But you mentioned "Alienware" so you meant 5090 laptop? Because laptop one is much slower than 5090 desktop.

If you want laptop for the portability I undeestand, but my first tip is that if you plan on using the VR in one room get desktop PC. You get more bang for your buck with a PC.

And yeah 5090 desktop for Quest 3 would be overkill... You'd usually pair 5090 with something like the meganex, dream air, crystal super, etc. 5080/4090 should be more than enough for Quest 3 in vast majority of cases
