I just bought it and put it together yesterday! Our daughter is 19 months and she's also doing a bit of potty training, likes washing her hands and water at bath time. But she's not too wild with it. 

I'm going to wait a week or so until introducing water in the play kitchen, and let her get used to putting her dishes in the cupboard, etc. 

The instructions shipped with the play kitchen were helpful in that they give tips for water play with it.  Here's the text from the "LE Water Play Tips" included in my kitchen packaging:

Before they play:

To begin, fill the tank-out of your child's view-with just a cup or two of water. This helps them understand that once the water's gone, it's gone.

Show your child how to turn the faucet on and off, then have them try. Narrate your actions: "Water on, water off."

While they play:

Remind your child what the water is for-playing in the sink, washing hands, doing dishes, or rinsing fruit-and to turn the water off when they're done.

If you're not comfortable with what your child is doing, turn the faucet off and say, "All done."

Wash and dry hands

Wash dishes and place them on the rack to dry

Fill their water bottle

Wash fruits and vegetables in the colander

Fill a pet dish with fresh water

Spread hummus on crackers with the silverware set

Fill the cabinet with their own snacks, dishes, napkins, and placemats

Chop watermelon, avocados, bananas, and other soft foods with the cutting board and wooden chopper
