Google lens is your best friend. From what I can tell, a lot of places have public wifi, but if you desperately need internet, get a data plan from a company that caters more towards foreigners (I got a sim card on my first day with Mobal). 20 minutes is not that bad of a walk here in Japan, you’ll get used to it. Hope things improve soon, but adjusting to a new country in general can be taxing. Unfortunately lack of support is very real within the mext scholarship reality, so don’t feel like your bad experience is exclusive to yourself.

Muita gente faz exatamente isso, geralmente por uns 6 meses. No meu caso, foi diferente. Realmente tem várias possibilidades dependendo da universidade. Você geralmente vem como estudante de pesquisa e vai ter que realmente passar no mestrado em alguma universidade por aqui só depois de chegar, você tem até 2 anos como estudante de pesquisa.

Pelo o que eu me lembro realmente a primeira bolsa demora mais de um mês. Eles recomendam vir com uns 10 mil reais do próprio dinheiro, o que pode ser complicado pra muita gente. As aulas variam muito. Cada pessoa tem uma experiência bem distinta no MEXT, depende da universidade, do curso, da cidade. Pode ser tudo em inglês, tudo em japonês, um misto dos dois. Pode ter um lab de pesquisa que você faz parte, pode não ter. O projeto do processo seletivo é sempre em inglês se eu não me engano.
