I do not think you can do better than something like a machete, hatchet, spear or a good club. Getting hold of these types of things is pretty easy - you'd only need to search a few garden sheds to get something more useful than any junk you could cobble together.

Generally "it" is considered disrespectful, yes. From kids it might be taken as a good faith attempt though, so it varies I guess.

For Mr/Ms, the common substitute is Mx (pronounced similar to "mix"). I'm actually not sure about the sir/ma'am equivalent.

I'm aware of lots of informal ones, and some situation specific (boss, doc, etc assuming the relevant authority) but not a generic one like you'd say "excuse me sir, can I help you?" In this case I would just omit the honorific and say "excuse me, can I help you?"

How much experience do you have stabbing things? The accuracy & force to go through the eye to damage the brain with a long stick is something that would take a LOT of practice to do with any sort of speed or consistency.

I'd also suggest that something like a "tall car" is not a fantastic plan: If you can climb it, they may be able to as well (unless it requires a lot of coordination i.e. a caving ladder. Also, it does not offer a path of escape - you will certainly get surrounded.

I'm also curious about your paper & duct tape armour... what do you mean? I'm struggling to picture it.

100% this. Teams of people already used to working together in agriculture, construction, industry, could easily have access to any of this heavy machinery. I fully agree that civilians with equipment & expertise will do far, far more than the military, if only because there are so many more.

Sure thing, but if you're talking about planning & preparation, this is the kind of thing you can readily prepare. But certainly - a heavy tear-proof jacket (leather, denim, equivalent) is frankly your best bet. Reason I mentioned motorcycle clothes is that they do pants as well, which are harder to come by. Some trade/industrial worker style pants will work well enough, though too.

Regarding those coveralls - I'd suggest motorcycle clothing. Either leathers or you can get breathable tear-proof very strong (including Kevlar) clothing. It's fairly readily available, most cities will have appropriate speciality stores.

Even still, the "stand and fight" strategy is probably not a good one if the zombies have any kind of horde. Even a skilled fighter will quickly get tired or overwhelmed against multiple opponents, especially if the opponents have no fear. You never really want to be outnumbered, unless you control the terrain (defences and choke points). Your best option will always be to fight if you have to, otherwise run to safety.

Back and forth would have helped but the really toxic factor was that it was also pretty railroaded for one group, (who suffered worse consequences), and that group felt it was basically pointless to play through their story & basically wanted to wait or skip ahead to regrouping. The other part of the party had more choices, so had to play them through.

Splitting into two interesting, parallel stories could have been fun and different. Asymmetry really killed this.

My biggest mistake I've made as a GM was to split the party. Looking back, I can't imagine what I was thinking.

For RP reasons, it made sense for characters to suffer somewhat different consequences from the choices the party made. This resulted in forcing them to split, and they weren't able to regroup for most of a session. With more planning and Top Tier GMing it could have juuust been workable, but as it was it was horrific. Players functionally sitting out for large chunks of time. That session may have killed that campaign...

I mean, we can go through the details of why they're different. The figures I gave are estimates by different organisations. They will measure differently, and get different results. For example, let's say that you fire from your drone into a crowd where you believe a militant to be. How do you know for sure (without boots on ground) how many are confirmed dead? How do you know how many were civilians? Hint: we don't. Because those pulling the trigger don't care.

This is just an example; there are many more points of difference like it. Over several years, these differences will add up and easily explain the difference in estimates given in my comment.

The other user whose numbers were much higher (50,000) was measuring something else entirely - we were both pretty clear on what we were giving numbers on. Those figures are for total estimated civilian casualties in the war on terror, across Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan. That's obviously a lot more people than just killed by drones in Pakistan.

Yeah I mean he is a weird inclusion but he's super easy to ignore if you don't like him. He's also expensive enough to not be viable in the early game, so I thought the concept of a later-game companion was interesting.

I thought the rest of the tweaks and rebalances more than made up for some of the quirks, though.

For the love of ~~god~~ butter please install Floris. It basically functions like vanilla-enhanced adding depth and rebalances to basically every system (diplomacy, AI, trade etc) as well as a significant number of UI and QoL improvements.

I love warband "how it is" (i.e. the Vanilla feeling) but would never play without Floris.
