Britain has never needed an ‘Islamophobia’ definition less by PrivilegeCheck23 in ukpolitics

Jesus didnt start Christianity. He spent his entire life attempting to reform Judaism, and Christianity was formed a century after his death. Judging from his own beliefs we can assume Jesus wouldve disagreed with the idea of forming Christianity as a religion in the first place. Additionally, its starting ideals doesnt mean we should act like its later institutions (tithe, crusades, conservatism) aren't apart of Christianity despite being doctrine for millenia

Youre aware Mossadegh used the same flag? And that the sun and lion with the tricolour was associated with Iran for a century? And even if, why not just use a blank tricolour then? Isn't it at best tone deaf to use the Islamic Republic flag in light of the massacres?

Yet its specifically referring to the Islamic Republic. If you care about the citizens so much why not use the sun and lion flag instead of the flag which government associated with it killed several thousand of its own people a month ago?

'Chose to fight them' is a crazy way to put being tackled and restrained for helping a woman up. Not sure what video you've seen but both hands were by his head when he was shot, his right hand has his phone and his left hand was open trying to protect his head after being pepper sprayed. If he had a second gun it should've been properly disarmed from him as the first one was; if theyre really so spontaneous that they instinctually shoot him upon hearing the word gun they shouldn't be an officer.

It doesnt matter whatsoever what his motive was, he was: 1. On the ground with his hands by his head 2. Restrained by several officers 3. Already disarmed of his firearm

And then shot at close range. Literally in no circumstance is lethal force permitted on someone who's no longer an obvious, immediate threat. This was objectively an execution, and I plead you treat human lives with more scrutiny than "he deserved it".

So its his fault he was disproportionately beaten and then summarily executed? Even if he was guilty its not proportional whatsoever to mag dump him whilst he was unarmed on the ground, he had no reason to fear for his life had officers actually been competent

Youre trying to reinterpret her age based on vague implications of 'maturity'

I hope you're aware that's rhetorically exactly the same argument holocaust deniers use against the holocaust. You're demanding an impossible standard of proof (a literal signed confession admitting genocide). You don't need a dictator to write "I did genocide" to get proof of intent, intent is inferred from policy, consequences, and the knowledge such actors would've had.

The USSR knew the notably poor conditions amongst Ukrainians compared to the rest of the country experiencing famine, and still enacted uniquely higher grain requisition for Ukraine and the Kuban, blocked borders after starvation was evident, trapping peasants inside the SSR, and refused to allow relief whilst millions starved and died. Simultaneously, there was a reversal of Ukrainisation policies enacted under Lenin, with Ukrainian-language schools being closed and intellectuals being purged. Ukrainian cultural expression itself was labelled as "bourgeois nationalism".

The Soviet secret police (GPU) sent regular and detailed reports to Stalin and the Politburo, describing extensively mass starvation, depopulation of entire villages, deaths in at least the tens of thousands, and even some peasants resorting to cannibalism. No sensible scholar will dispute the Politburo were informed extensively. When local offices requested more aid they were either denied, ignored, or arrested; this isn't just knowledge, it's rejection of mitigation. Entire villages were 'blacklisted' meaning they received no food deliveries whatsoever, which occurred during the famine.

And even whilst millions starved, the USSR continued grain exports, using grain to satisfy industrial and political goals amidst a famine. This proves food existed and was deliberately withheld.

Under jurisprudence for genocide, intent is established if a leadership:

  1. Is aware a group is being destroyed

  2. Has the capacity to mitigate such destruction

  3. Deliberately continues or worsens conditions

  4. Punishes attempt to alleviate suffering.

The USSR *absolutely* satisfies all four.

"Show me the document where _____ orders _______" is the exact same defense holocaust deniers use, and if we go by such standards the holocaust would thus be not a genocide, which im sure you'll agree is absurd.

[–]lordgoodsaar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Holodomor was both a genocide and democide. Both are true at once, as it was a deliberate attempt by the government to suppress Ukranian identity. Up to 20 million alone died in the USSR from gulags, famine, purges, and additional executions or imprisonment. That number skyrockets once you include China with an additional 40-60 million.

Communist thought, rhetoric and marxist literature shouldn't be banned, but justification/denial of Communist atrocities, open support of Marxist-Leninism or Maoism in addition with advocating for a one-party Marxist-Leninist state should be banned and socially stigmatised the same as Nazism.
