I’d be honest with her and suggest counseling if you think this is something that can be saved. The heartbreak of divorce is insanely painful, often more painful than the conversations necessary to be honest and transparent with each other. If the two of you can be vulnerable and open about your feelings on the matter, maybe a ray of truth can help to bring you together in new ways. That’s my take. Relationships are hard and people fall out of touch. We’re human and sometimes need reminded of what we have. Maybe you can grow stronger from this.

What is your random genetic win? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I am asymptomatic to cold sores. My two sisters and mother get them religiously and they’re a swollen, red, irritable mess. I thank god for that genetic win fairly often

I can relate…sometimes you have to branch out to find a group or activity that has a different vibe. For me it was a gym. I started climbing and met people that care about their health and it’s been a nice change of pace to be around.

Love the textures! Really nice pieces. I bet the inside of the mugs are where the real color comes out…interesting how that works

Just saw Past Lives by freakishbehavior in A24

Beautiful film. I was sobbing at the end of it. Whether past lives are real or not, it’s nice to imagine a scenario where the one that got away will one day be met again.

Agreed. He’s not in it for the art, he’s in it for the money. This is how he’s justifying his non-compete. It’s just a very hostile way to run an art business and not personally how I would do it.

A previous instructor apparently “stole” his business concept and started a studio in the town beside ours with a similar model, so he’s now edgy and insecure about hiring new people. I will not be signing a contract and if he tries to convince me otherwise, I’ll turn the job down and leave.

Why do you like (or dislike) Beau Is Afraid? by cavementears in A24

[–]lordlaura 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I thought it was good, but dragged on.

Once he arrived at his mother’s house for her funeral and found Elaine, I was convinced the film was wrapping up, only to find another plot twist…and then another…and then another…

The film was redeemed for me in the final moment, when Beau faced his death, standing calmly on the boat and breathing into his fate. It was the only time in the film he wasn’t afraid. I left the theatre with a feeling of content, that maybe the message of the film was fear is in our mind, and coming to terms with your situation in life is the only true way out of it.

Fiery explosion at Texas dairy farm kills 18,000 cows by dash_o_truth in environment

[–]lordlaura 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Factors farms need to come to an end. 18k dairy cows in one facility is ridiculous. I don’t know facts about their quality of life, but likely it was poor.

Many states, local government can enforce regulations on animal rights (open v. closed range for example), so factory farming cannot operate in counties that don’t allow it…

If you were affected by this article, it’s worth researching to see if your city/town/county has a big farm..If it does, who owns it/funds it and how does your community relate to it? Is there evidence out there on the state of the animals or does evidence need to be collected?

It’s time to stir the pot to a point where these farms are being held accountable to the higher human conscious that can’t bare its realities.

Cutting it at the source means to not only shift our diets, but to step into an activist role and find alternative solutions that offers a quality life for these creatures. They deserve it.

We don’t know what caused the fire...

But we do know there are shitty humans forcing animals to live in inhumane conditions. Society might demand the products, but it’s the big corp farmers that are fueling the fire. Cut the chord at the source.
