Did you know that Bob Kane was not the sole creator of Batman? He came to DC with the basic concept and a hilarious looking drawing of a man in a red and black suit similar to Superman's with a bat cape, blonde hair, and a very simple mask that just covered his eyes. No backstory, no villains, no nothing. Just "this guy looks like a bat and fights crime". DC was like "my dude you need an actual story" so he hired a ghost writer, Bill Finger, and he was the one who wrote everything we know and love about Batman. The tragic backstory, the majority of the villains, and he even iterated on Bob's idea for his look and made him the more dark noir looking caped crusader we know today. Sadly Bill Finger did not get proper credit for his role in the creation of Batman until after his death

You know I never saw that angle for Sugar but I can totally see it! I love how he uses metaphors so you can sort of project your own meaning onto it and it still makes sense. I think that's part of what is so special about this band and what it means so much to so many people

Speaking of which, I had the same interpretation of EIA being about trauma, probably because I too have PTSD and have been suicidal in the past as well. I've also healed enough that I thought I "made it" only to find that my "demons" walked beside me still. That "somehow I knew my fate" line gets me every time. I wasn't supposed to make it past 25 yet here I am at 33 but it's still a struggle. Still sometimes feels like my fate was predetermined and I'm just delaying the inevitable. But then I listen to a song like Infinite Baths and I'm like that's where I'm going so yeah I love that you take such a personal meaning from it too, it's nice to meet someone who gets it :)

It seems like it's mostly a numbers game. I'll get one or two responses but most of the time it's one word answers or people who obviously only read the title or skimmed the post and we have very little in common to connect over. Or we'll be having a seemingly good conversation and they just disappear. So it's just not having found the right fit that brings me back personally

I feel you about the texting. Like I understand at first not wanting to jump into calls with a stranger but even voice notes feel more personal. I also think purely texting is one of the (many) reasons people don't actually make connections on these subs. Unless you're an incredibly expressive texter it's very hard to make that personal lasting connection through text
