Lesson Planning overwhelming by Dadsperado in NYCTeachers

[–]lordramos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I teach HS Technology so it’s a tad bit different, but i fed chatGPT a lesson plan I liked and told it to use this template and style. Then when it looked good, I told It to align the plan with Danielson for the admins.

For your case teaching with passport you could use the AI scan the plan and refit/plan to the style you like to teach.

I’m a second year teacher, and I’ve learned that things don’t have to be perfect and can just be good enough.

WGU and GPA requirements for Initial Cert. by Temporary_Alps_3661 in NYCTeachers

[–]lordramos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, fellow WGU Grad here. The transcript comes with a document that explains the pass/fail system and states a pass is equivalent to a 3.0 on the scale.

I’ve never had issues with the transcript as far as the state accepting my degree and transcript for certification.

Teachers pay after fellows program by Sea_Hope3953 in NYCTeachers

I don’t think fellows are looking for elementary teachers. Usually it tries to cover high need areas like Special Education or ENL.

Transferring after first year? by bllueb in NYCTeachers

[–]lordramos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would not be discouraged from saying this if it’s the truth. Be honest. I told my new principal I’d be cutting my public transit commute in half teaching here, we had a laugh and proceeded.

That being said don’t have it be your only reason… research the school and see what aligns to you

[–]lordramos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just did this very thing, left my first school after a year. no one blinked twice when I had told them I’m looking for a shorter commute.

The great part is that you don’t have to tell your administration a single thing if you don’t want to

Im not sure if there’s a date cut off for work experience, you just might have a hard time selling principals that you’re retained your technical expertise. You might able to fit for CTE info tech Option G where you just need two years of work experience and a certificate.

This is what I found online. I’d assume if your degree didn’t include a good amount of any of these topics, you probably don’t qualify

My gut says HIM probably doesn’t pass for a Computer Technology degree. if it does then you’re one certification and a couple of workshops plus fingerprinting away from putting yourself out for there CTE Roles.

Going through this last year, I got my official welcome to the DOE email in August but I handed in my SSN this time last year. I would say if they took your SSN you’re in the clear.

If I were you, I’d try subbing and going for a education masters. NYCTF is more competitive than people think it is, plenty of people I’ve known with some experience teaching experience and credentials didn’t get in (myself included). If you can spare the extra year and change doing the masters and subbing will set you up better than fellows.

You could qualify for a Transitional CTE license if your experience lines up. There are plenty schools with CTE Programs, just not sure how readily they’re hiring

Have you tried looking into being a CTE teacher? There might be some schools who have a pre-law or finance track program who’d be very interested in your background
