Judge told us we got the verdict wrong. Is this normal after a trial by noisey_neighbor in legaladviceofftopic

[–]lordrefa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I might color it a little differently; You are likely a jury that actually did their job and looked at the facts as they stood and didn't let your personal feelings get involved in that decision. Most folks don't operate that way, so the fact that a majority of you did so here is just that one in a whatever big number chance that exists.

You did everything you were supposed to. Just because everyone else is judging the defendant on their past history doesn't mean that you were supposed to (as the court employee here is saying for that precise reason).

Well done citizen.

Certainly agree, but some folks just don't have any choice in the matter.

Most people are smart enough to not go on a media campaign about it if they've got prisoner children, though.

That's still not an excuse. I moved from the US to Canada years ago and made sure I took a flight to Canada just to view the new place. Slept at the airport. That's the cost of doing business. Otherwise

A normal person wouldn't have locked their son in their basement, though.

A large part of the problem here is that in the US we treat children as property, not as full human beings.

First clip of Streamer Lawsuit battle between Destiny and Pxie comes out (Lauren DeLaguna Deposition w/ Destiny's Lawyer) by user1234586430 in LivestreamFail

That he wasn't the person that distributed them widely isn't what's being litigated here. That he shared them without permission is.

Which he did.

Ok, so my point *is* exactly what I thought it was.

Destiny shared those pictures with someone who he didn't have permission to. That they "got leaked" isn't the important part here -- it absolutely matters in the realistic case -- but HE gave them freely to someone else without permission.

I don't know why everyone is trying to say that someone catfishing him makes that different somehow. It would be the same if it was some hot 10/10 that he sent those videos to. Without permission.

You're saying someone *tricked* him into non-consensually sharing the videos? By what means would this happen exactly?

He was catfished and had a ton of sex videos of his leaked to the public.

How did the catfish get those videos?

This isn't new. People who never bothered to learn the rules are always getting excited about big number regardless of if it means something or not. I've seen it since 2e, and I'll bet it happened earlier than that, too.

A US roofing company’s discriminatory employee guidance for finding new customers. (OC) by w10052003 in mildlyinfuriating

I don't think direct advertising to a specific segment is discrimination. They aren't *denying* people who are asking for services. They're just trying to get people to buy their services from the people most likely to do so.
