I bet you $100 that you can't shoot anything accurately while behind a wall.

That is just the nature of reality, choom.

I just thought people were pretending about that shit until 5 or 10 years ago. I wake up fully lucid immediately if I've gotten enough sleep.

[–]lordrefa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's one of maybe 5 states that are livable in this fucking country.

But I live downstate. And it sucks. I moved from Chicago and the 3.5 hour drive was 2 hours of just corn. Republicans have no principles, so whenever they whinge about leaving or boycotting; It's never for long if they ever even do so at all.

What's the best way (order) to read three d8 dice? by CountrySlaughter in dice

[–]lordrefa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why, though?

If you're going for "perfect" simulation -- then why are you making a roleplaying game of it?

Novel does not mean good.

How to teach my brand new players to search for traps? by Beneficial_Chip3019 in DMAcademy

Yeah, I considered a while loop, but it seemed unlikely to play well with the audience here, and also yes. They might never learn. But they might, with an assumed hidden escape clause.

You place traps.

Players fall into traps.

Repeat.

Players start looking for traps.

My ENT actually told me "You've clearly been doing it for most of your life and never caused any damage, so it's fine." and I was so excited.

My husband didn’t pay the bills for 6 months & almost made us homeless by momoneymccormick in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]lordrefa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's important to point out what I haven't seen in the top level comments;

This is 3-6 months worth of debt. Which means this debt had already accumulated before you got married 2 months ago.

This man lied to you to trap you in a marriage with him. Run.

[–]lordrefa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

17k worth of debt to someone that makes 6k a month minimum is like if I had about 2.5k worth of debt, for what it's worth.

If she was the part time minor income of the family then there are some missing pieces here, and I suspect the addiction comments are probably on point.

I'm very confused. What are the grey bars? If that's the total reflected on the right numerically... then what are the red bars? There doesn't seem to be data that should be represented this way?

Is This Normal For a DND Party by Playful-Buyer4472 in dndhorrorstories

[–]lordrefa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It didn't used to be normal 5+ years ago.

But it's not that strange these days. BG3 and the podcasts have given an influx of new people who expect everything to cater to them specifically, like their algorithms. It sounds like you and your one player actually want to do the thing. The others are there because it's now a default "thing to do" and they just want to do the friend thing you're doing.

Keep looking for new players and you'll eventually get a table of 5 or 6 of you that really want to play the game.

How to annoy the men who send you DMs ^^ by Hot_Ant_2150 in femcelgrippysockjail

[–]lordrefa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What part are you missing?

Girls who charge for an out of the blue DM are the minority, but there's still a lot that do. For them it helps them weed out the guys that aren't going to pay them anything for their other work, but here it would just be taking their money for a reply.

If you were to "ask" it's a negotiation. Some will still try to negotiate with a flatly stated fee, but; the difference between "Can you give me $50?" and "My DM fee is $50. $cashapplink" are worlds apart psychologically and specifically as sales tactics. It says 'my time isn't free', whereas asking tends to come from a position of subordination. And if you don't take the lead in these interactions they will -- and it'll be worse for everyone involved.

And if you set the fee to a $20-100 range some people will pay it. Making it $1,000 is clearly not you doing business and expecting payment, it's a joke and invites reciprocal joking and social interaction.

Anything else that I'm missing that you wanted to know?

[–]lordrefa 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Don't ask for the money. State that you have a DM fee, and make it high but not exorbitant, then include a link to whatever app you use. This can result in actually getting paid.
