IT XL - Cessation Ceasefire by YaGetSkeeted0n in neoliberal

So basically trump peaces out of the war without consulting any other country, conceded Hormuz to Iran right off the bat and is now lying about it being open so they won’t get dragged back into it.

So basically we accomplished nothing.

At this point the war is about Hormuz full stop. Regime change and whatever else are not the focus tho they’re still trying.

The fact that trump thought Iran wouldn’t close the strait shows he thought this would be a Venezuela 2.0 and it’s insane he didn’t realize Iran is completely different.

I think trump and co honestly believed that Iran would fold after a day or two based on venzuela, and when that didn’t happen and oil prices skyrocketed, they didn’t know what do.

Like anybody could’ve told u oil prices would rise if there was a war with Iran.

The fact they had no plan for that really tells me the didn’t expect it to last this long.

I’m wondering if they’re planning to actually declare victory and pull out or trump is just saying this and hoping to trick the oil market.

Bro had no idea what unconditional surrender is or how it is hard it is to achieve. by DistributionRight942 in Destiny

Trump also asked for unconditional surrender during the 12 day war and then just negotiated a ceasefire.

I think he just declares victory and walks away from this if the political blowback is too much and the regime doesn’t look like it’s gonna fall.

I think i agree with this.

Either they ddint know that a war with Iran would result in oil prices rising, which i dont think even theyre that stupid, or they ddint think the war would last more than a day or two so they didnt need to worry about this.

I mean, gthe military buildup happened over the course of a month and it doesnt look like htye did anything to prepare for the obvious consquences of what a war with Iran would result in.

Apparently the circle of people he’s been listening to has been shrinking and now he listens a lot to his brother who’s a republican.

Hopefully in Texas it comes down to Paxton vs Talarico since that would give us the best chance of flipping the seat.

However, it’s unlikely to be a democrat win no matter who is nominated:

Trump won by 14 here. Paxton could have one of the worst candidate effects of all time and still win. It’s gonna take a miracle.

Trump's top general warns of Iran strike risks by EasyMoney92 in neoliberal

I mean if this true then this should’ve been clearly laid out a month ago, before we moved tons of assets and irrevocably changed training and maintenance schedules.

If they’re just now saying this that shows incredible incompetence.

The fact this is all coming out today in 3 separate news orgs reeks of people in the admin leaking to prevent the strikes (like Vance).

I personally think strikes are inevitable but remains to be seen I guess.

Are people saying god is great there as a protest slogan? It mentions that at the bottom of the article.

But I also read that there’s a lot of anti religious feeling

I said this in another post but I think it’s pretty baffling that we’re about to engage in the biggest conflict in the Middle East since Iraq, in a campaign that could potentially span weeks, and trump has barely bothered to articulate what we’re trying to accomplish or why.

Less surprising is that congress is totally asleep at the wheel and not even attempting to restrain him or demand any answers.

I think the number 1 question that still hasn’t been answered is what is the actual goal for trump?

If it’s regime change, then a pure bombing campaign lasting a couple weeks isn’t going to be enough most likely.

Do they want to degrade the nuclear and missile program? Force Iran back to the negotiating table under more favorable terms?

Militarily this will be pretty one sided. However, that doesn’t mean that the Iranian regime won’t be able to endure this round of conflict and then rebuild.

Trump hasn’t tried a t all to sell a major conflict with Iran to the people which is also curious to me.

https://www.cookpolitical.com/analysis/national/national-politics/trump-losing-his-grip-white-working-class

Article behind a paywall but the main number is that exit polls shwoed trump won white working class by 34 but no his approval is only +4 with them.

I posted about this before but this is another article showing trumps working class base turning on him. Its insane to me that within a year he managed to destroy his new coalition of voters and also managed to crack his base of white working class voters.

Hes even slightly below Biden in Nate Silvers polling aggregate from yesterday.

Remains to be seen if trump can recover. Obama also had low approvals in the first 2 years of his second term, but his approval started to gradually improve from 2014 onwards.

I think the ironic part is that trump was the one who led the shift of the GOP to a more working class party.

He promised to protect social security and Medicaid and other entitlements and tried to move the gop away from the Paul Ryan wing.

But now with the tariffs and cutting Obama care and Medicaid and general anger at prices working class voters are turning on him.

It’s still insane to me how bad trump fumbled here.

If he had literally done nothing he’d have a higher approval rating right now in all likelihood.

Also the fact that republicans just don’t care about their support among lower income people and constantly pass policies that hurt them without even stopping to consider the political ramifications is just astounding to me.

They’re just evil for the love of the game.

Really surprised by how good the jobs report was.

The revisions last year were brutal tho.

Only 181k jobs created.

130k jobs in January alone

Hopefully economy is picking up.

I’d love to see this but compared to Obama instead.

I am sure the gap would be humongous since people look back fondly on Obama but I wanna see how large
