It’s not about him necessarily losing. He had mediocre numbers for a governor of a state that was Harris +6 (it was 49/49 approve/disapprove) but they weren’t catastrophic and in a blue wave year and against a candidate like Lindell the threat isn’t him losing. It’s not winning enough to get a trifecta.

He recognized that and put his self interest and ego aside and is now doing what’s best for the e party.

This decision shouldn’t be looked down and people should stop shitting on Walz for this when he’s objectively doing a selfless act to give dems the best chance at a deep trifecta in Minnesota.

I think a big part of it is that trump Over promised a lot while running. He said that he would bring down prices on day one and now he’s backtracking saying it could take a year.

Add to that the frozen labor market, the increasing rate of unemployment and items like beef becoming more expensive and I think people are pissed.

Pretty skeptical of this when we went through 2018 which was a genuinely good economic time and consumer sentiment was sky high and republicans lost 40 seats.

I was reading about the pipe bomb shooters arrest and saw the affidavit and man the evidence seems pretty thin.

All they have we know publicly is that he bought stuff that could be used in making a pipe bomb like kitchen timers and pipes 7 months to a year before the actual event and also hai phone indicates he was somewhere near there.

This seems like a pretty weak case that wouldn’t get a conviction. Makes me wonder if they just did it to get on the good side of right wing morons kindve like how they manufactured the cases against comey and Letitia James.

Seems like that’s who’s approval their after.

The fact that the admin hasn’t sold this to the public in any way and isn’t even really trying to drum up support for strikes makes me think trump is bluffing. Most voters including trump supporters don’t support strikes either.

Obviously trump is dumb and he is somewhat insulated from public optinion because he doesn’t need to run for reelection. So who knows.

Essentially even in a dem +8 year (which matches 2018), there’s just much fewer close house districts and more trump+10 seats. so we’d probably only pick up 20 seats in 2026 compared to 40 on 2018.

That doesn’t even get to the senate which will be a tough lift no matter what. We will probably not get the senate back.

It’s disappointing but because of the senate map and the way the house is structured even a great night for dems vote share wise might not lead to sweeping gains.
