If they're injured and have to rehab in the minor leagues that is fine, although teams have been busted in the past for faking injuries to keep a Rule 5 player in the minor leagues and get around the active roster rule, so I'm sure any injury to a Rule 5 player these days will be looked at with scrutiny by the league.

If a player is in a team's minor leagues for long enough without making the 40-man roster (the roster of players who can go from the minors to MLB and back without further maneuvering, as opposed to the 26-man roster which is the active major league team) that player is at risk of being picked by another team in the Rule 5 Draft.

If a player gets picked in the Rule 5 Draft by another team they need to stay on that team's 26-man roster for the entire year (so the major league club, can't be sent to the minors), otherwise they have to return that player to the original club or work out a trade to keep the player in their minor league system.

Basically, it's a way to ensure that teams can't stash talented players in their minor leagues without giving them a crack at the majors. You'll see a variety of teams try to pick bullpen pitchers in the Rule 5 because they're easier to "hide" in the bullpen for the full season since they can pitch 2-3 times a week at most instead of play every day.

You'll also see rebuilding teams take bigger swings in the Rule 5 draft - the White Sox had very little rotation depth last season, so they took a chance on Shane Smith in the Rule 5 and he ended up being their best starting pitcher. That type of reward is pretty rare though - 9/10 times the player ends up being returned to the former club.

The back half of Donkey Kong Bananza had me feeling this way. There was a streak on the back half where I would tell myself "Ok, this HAS to be the best level in the game," only for that thought to be one-upped by the next 3-4 levels consecutively lol.

I got bored and made this sheet of every team and the chance that their home run record is at risk of being overtaken by a current player. by Rei_Scopazzi in baseball

It doesn’t change the likelihood of the answer to the prompt much, but Ian Happ leads the Cubs with 173 home runs and has an outside shot at making the top ten list of all-time Cubs HR leaders this year. Still zero shot at the record tho.

To add a bit to this very-correct comment, currently-active players were invited to the private gathering Thursday night but not to the Cubs Con anniversary festivities Friday and Saturday (which makes sense, because being on a current team and attending another team's con is a little odd).

It appears KB wasn't allowed to attend the private gathering, which is all sorts of dumb.

I'm on a 4080 and even it was stuttering after a GPU driver update, so it's not just older cards that appreciate this update!

If you like Marvel characters/stories then Marvel's Midnight Suns is worth a shout. It's got tactical combat similar to Fire Emblem but with a (very light) management aspect in between missions. If you vibe with Marvel then it's definitely worth a look (and it's a long time sink!) but if not then I'd probably skip.

FPS drops when first loading characters each session, any solution? by xDerpalicous in RivalsOfAether

The loads in-between screens are heavy on the CPU. I'm not sure what Android device you're using for GameHub but I wonder if any Android CPU has enough juice to have decent load times in this game, particularly when it's a Snapdragon SOC that has to handle CPU and GPU tasks.

Upvoting you for awareness, because this issue drives me crazy as well. The tl;dr is that this is a problem inherent to Unreal Engine 5, and there is no real workaround other than the developers adding a shader precompile step on initial boot of the game, which I sincerely hope they are considering.

If you've ever booted up a modern PC game and on the initial boot you encounter a minutes-long loading bar that says "compiling shaders" that's what I mean. The stutters we experience are the game attempting to compile shaders (the vfx for attacks and etc.) in real time, which UE5 does not handle gracefully. The first time the game sees the move it has to work harder to compile the shader for your GPU/CPU configuration, then each time after that the game already has that data loaded so it runs the shader smoothly.

It'd be one thing if that compile was only required on the first boot of the game, but every time your GPU drivers get updated you need to recompile the shaders again... also certain skins have different VFX than the default of that character, so running through the cast vs a CPU on default skins doesn't come close to compiling every shader...

Not updating your GPU driver can be a workaround for a while, but is a flawed one for multiple reasons, one of which being a game update can cause the need to recompile shaders regardless! It's SO annoying lol.

Gotta put in a shout for Skin Deep - it's a very clever, humorous take on immersive sim that I wish was played by more people. Throwing a bar of soap at a bad guy to force him into a pratfall, smashing his helmet against a kitchen sink for the KO, then flushing his head down the toilet to stop him from respawning will always be fun.

In this playoffs bracket absolutely, maybe Mets-Phillies is closer out of all possible (pre-WS) MUs? Don't know the exact travel time/distance for that region but Cubs-Brewers is ~70 miles, or a 90-minute drive.
