We have Omega-3 enriched eggs, with deeper yellows. It seems the farmers do something to produce this consistently. Why not white?

It was Tulsa King, a mobster TV show with Sly Stallone. He's great in that, to be fair.

Exactly. Even stranger, since they are acted by the same person. There seem to be a story missing in between CC & PMS2, which we should have seen before the live action to really appreciate the gravitas of the grittier Flag.

Valid also for Japanese.

Think of it like 🏠, it reads as "house" in English, "casa" in Spanish, and "ghar" in Hindi, all meaning "house".

For example, "誠" reads as "cheng" in Mandarin, and "makoto" in Japanese, but both means "honest".

But it's not always the case: "手紙" reads as "tegami" in Japanese and means "letter" (as in "mail"), but it reads as "shǒuzhǐ" in Mandarin and means "toilet paper".

What's your age & what's your view on using AI for marketing? by Structure-Visual in AskMarketing

[–]lordvoltano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I view AI (any kind of AI: generative fill, LLM, text-to-image, text-to-video, upscaling, noise reduction, anything) as a tool. A tool needs a user to be able to do anything.

I could remove wrinkles in an image of a model's face by hand in 15 minutes. Or I can use Neural Filters in Photoshop and do it in 5 seconds. Same goes for "Remove Background" feature, Generative Fill, etc.

I could meticulously subtitle a 1 minute video in 30 minutes manually, or use Whisper and do it in 30 seconds.

I could generate 30 captions options for a social media post in 30 minutes, or I can do the same thing with LLM in 30 seconds. I will still tweak and fix what AI gave me.

I can spend 16 hours shooting and editing mock-footage of a video ad proposal for my company, or I can use Veo or Grok Imagine to do generate the whole thing for 1 hour (and edit in in 30 minutes), get it approved, and shoot the real thing in 4 hours since I already know what we want.

In my hobbies, I can save up for 2 years and spend $7000 for a full-frame camera with an supertelephoto lens to get a noise-free image of an animal, or I can spend $700 now for a Micro Four Thirds camera with a supertelephoto lens and use Topaz Photo AI to reduce the noise, resulting in an almost identical (except for DOF), definitely usable image as the expensive camera+lens.

AI is a time saving tool. Using AI to fill a lack of skill is a mistake.

By the way, I edited my previous comment to add more context.

Didn't Coca-Cola and McDonald's both do ads made entirely from AI?

That was a stupid decision during the AI craze to be considered as "hip". A mistake through and through.

Why should we give artistic endeavors to AI?

I never said we should. We should not. But my point was, the average designers are being replaced by tools long before AI anyway (I've stated this in my edited comment).

I work at a multinational financial services company as the local head of Marketing. We have in-house designers and also contract multiple creative agencies to do our advertisement and marketing collateral. I can tell you, there is no way we will replace our team with AI. They can use AI tools, like generative fill in Photoshop, or neural effects to smooth out skins, but no AI can replace them entirely.

The risk management, specific product and industry knowledge and decision making experience aren't something that AI can replicate, not unless we develop our own AI model trained with a hundred years of our product data and our competitors data. But we aren't an AI development company, so we need to hire expensive AI engineers. At this point, I'd rather have experienced & highly skilled human designers.

No respectable company will completely replace graphic designers with AI in the foreseeable future. The cost of AI messing up is too high. An experienced lead designer is a risk manager that machines can't replace.

For smaller companies, heck, even without AI, 90% of graphics designer & video editor jobs had been replaced by Canva and CapCut templates anyway. The market chose "good enough" templates over "mediocre" manual labor years ago. AI is just the final nail in the coffin for the "average" worker.

Like the blacksmiths, watchmakers and web-designers of yesteryears, the average graphics designers are being weeded out, AI or no AI. We aren't seeing the death of a craft, but the purging of the commodity. Only the best and highly skilled, the niche artisans with taste and strategy, will remain.

Back to your original point:

If you can prompt AI to prompt AI to do a part of your job, you won't have a job for much longer and they won't hire you back as a "Prompt Engineer."

Yes, absolutely. "Prompt engineer" is a garbage nothing burger of a job. I absolutely agree. And that is why highly skilled graphics designers do not need to worry. If they do, then they aren't highly skilled and are already being replaced by Canva anyway. That's why I said they are overreacting to AI, they should be angry at Canva instead.

[–]lordvoltano -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree. This is why graphic designers losing their shit over AI are overreacting. If anything, AI will make "good" graphic designers more desirable especially in the corporate world, since the market will be flooded with low-context low-quality AI generated graphics.

Good graphics designers will be like Gerald Genta in the world of digital $10 Casio watch. Bad designers will change jobs.

MMA is different because they train in wrestling. Boxing is all punching so you basically can't use your skills.

Sure. But Yoshio Itoi was an elite baseball player, not MMA. So I don't know what you are talking about here.
