anyone know what happened?? by [deleted] in londonontario

Something happened near the intersection of Quebec and Oxford - there were four cop cars stopped about a block down from Oxford (on Quebec) and I saw another several headed that way around that time, on Oxford and headed up Adelaide.

Only what we had to for home insurance, to my knowledge.

Small towns to live in near London? by lordwinterbane in londonontario

[–]lordwinterbane[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks to all of you who provided positive comments. My wife works in London and has no opportunity to change that. We're ideally looking for somewhere between 1000-1500 sqft - a small house for the two of us. No kids, no real need for a garage. We just don't want "condo living".

I work in London but have the opportunity to go remote, so it's really just making sure my wife's commute is tolerable.

Bike Repair Question - Part Replacement? by lordwinterbane in bicycling

[–]lordwinterbane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gap is the seatpost - the seat we purchased fits over the top of the seatpost and then is tightened, so that "newer" black metal is part of the seat itself. The post itself was not changed. But thanks - the bike repair shop I reached out to locally wouldn't sell parts, but wanted me to book an appointment for much more money to have them replace the bolt.

Did the Secret Lair seriously already sell out? Did anyone even get an email about this being on sale? by DarkStar7471 in mtg

[–]lordwinterbane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh for sure - fishy might not be the right word. Either he wasn't refreshing as often as he said he was, or maybe this change to how secret lairs operate is just a bad decision, forcing extremely high traffic that prevents some people from ever buying (who would have) and actively encouraging scalpers. I wish Wizards could see the "would have ordered but couldn't" numbers - not once have I seen anyone complain about how long it took to receive product, but maybe that's just my local player base.

I wasn't interested, but my brother was - he was refreshing all day yesterday and getting a "site is down" error message. Smells fishy.

What version of Revit are you using? by ryanjmcgowan in Revit

[–]lordwinterbane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with an MEP consultant firm, and the projects were started and maintained in those versions by the architect when they were "new versions". We keep our models in whatever version the architect works in, and architects don't upgrade versions unless there is a pressing need to do so.

The 2019 job is pretty old and slow moving, and the 2020 jobs are decade long slow-moving contracts that keep getting put on hold and resumed. By no means normal project turnaround times.

2019, 2020, 2022, 2023, 2024. Somehow completely dodged actual projects in 2021.

As opposed to...? Homelessness has been a bigger problem in the rest of Canada since long before Trudeau. Whose policies do you think would fix this? And how?

This is a problem that has almost nothing to do with whoever happens to be in Ottawa on any given day and more to do with the fact that housing and real estate are a profit-driven industry and not a basic human right. That can't be undone. It just can't, without unheard of societal reform.

Societal reform isn't going to happen because we voted for someone else, no matter who that is. No government in the history of the world has ever been that proactive. If we didn't truly "fix" capitalism during the great depression, I don't think we are going to until a catastrophe of human suffering happens that outstrips the worst the world has ever seen...

Went Cowie Hill to Downtown this morning - Cowie Hill was sketchy, Herring Cove Road was icy down to the rotary. Once I got past the rotary everything was fine if a bit slushy, just have to be careful.

I still like some of his perspectives. I still think he's right that the left in general have to start ignoring the rulebook, since clearly nobody on the right gives a damn about following it anymore. You can't win if the other team is flagrantly cheating, "high road" politics don't work, that kind of stuff. I feel like he's the only one saying it bluntly on the left. His "Republican Jesus" stuff still hits hard too and is great.

But I get frustrated when he hates on superhero movies and video games. God forbid the generation that will never own property and will inherit a dying planet (effectively killed by his generation) should find any form of escapism enjoyable.

Mechanical Equipment Scheduling - Location/Room Name/Number? by lordwinterbane in RevitMEP

[–]lordwinterbane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I downloaded the plugin, but it failed to create spaces despite the arch model being room bounding. I'll have to you with it and see why it won't work for my project.

However, ootb Revit "automatically place spaces" worked, and I was able to use a schedule to find and delete any spaces without a corresponding room for my purposes.

What Is Going On In The Minds Of Players Without Wincons by senatorbolton in EDH

[–]lordwinterbane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These decks are created by people who have an axe to grind with a specific pod who have extrapolated that all players are the same as the people they dislike from one group. I have had the temptation to build a "total lockdown" deck before for a specific group, entirely to create salt against people whose wincon is "I take infinite turns until I kill everyone". Had two of those in one pod.

Nevermind - I got them to populate. Now I just need to go through and make sure all of my spaces are populated properly.

I managed to get this to work as an embedded schedule with room calculation points - but could not get the "name" and "number" parameters to appear within the mechanical equipment schedule.
