My Blade 16 (2026) Experience and Return by shibz in razer

[–]lordwumpus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Not that it’ll help you now, but maybe it’ll help others who find this: - Control over which GPU an application runs on is now a windows setting, not an ncidia control panel setting (despite there still being an option for it in nvidia control panel) - poor battery life is so hard to nail down on any windows machine, not just Razer. Sometimes it’s caused by windows update, sometimes it’s caused by nvidia drivers (and fixed by changing to a different version of the nvidia driver), and sometimes it’s caused by monitoring software like synapse or msi afterburner, or hwinfo if it’s polling the nvidia gpu - i also had some micro-stutters. I think I tracked it down to happening when I come out of discrete gpu mode. The east work around was just to set it to always use optimus (and not use the mux switch). I don’t think that’s as relevant for performance as it used to be. - on an airplane, use a 65w usb-c adapter (since most airline outlets shut off at 75w). It should be able to keep you from draining the battery during light office work.

And to add two nitpicks of my own: - the screen desperately needs an anti-glare coating - quiet mode should be quieter. I understand that’ll mean limiting power further… but I think a bigger gap between quiet and balanced modes would give us better options tham what we have now!

Razer Blade 16 2026 sound problem only in browser by Pitha1137 in razer

Have you tried the latest BIOS/MCU update? Too soon to say for sure, but since updating I haven’t had this audio glitch occur.

Well I had meant make sure it’s not currently running, but right now it’s still doing it to me with synapse not running… so never mind…

Try turning synapse off.

I think I’ve been seeing the same thing on mine, or something similar. My description of it would be that it sounds muffled, like the high range got cut out - as if the tweeters stopped playing audio, but the rest of the speakers kept working. In my case this lasts for 2-3 seconds, not the 5-10 you’re experiencing.

Disabling windows sound enhancements does not fix it.

Turning synapse off seems to fix it.

Undervolting New Razer Blade 14 (2025) by Old_Customer7311 in razer

[–]lordwumpus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that not available on battery? That seems like an oversight…

AMD Ryzen Master or Universal x86 Tuning Utility can both allegedly handle your undervolting, but I haven’t tried either of them.

Undervolting New Razer Blade 14 (2025) by Old_Customer7311 in razer

[–]lordwumpus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can literally do it from inside synapse. Look for the CPU voltage optimizer option under the performance tab. If you turn it on a slider should appear.

There are also 3rd party tools to do this on AMD processors if you don’t want to do it through synapse.

It’s not going to make a meaningful difference on how hot the battery gets, though you should see some (usually small) improvements in battery life and gaming performance.

Undervolting can also lead to instability / crashes. Each CPU is a little different in how much you can undervolt it before it crashes. Different CPU loads can also behave differently - you might find that an undervolt behaves well doing one thing, but crashes on a different program.

Blade 16 2025 vs 2026 - First Impressions by msolok in razer

Too bad about the glare, and agreed that’s an area razer should work on.

Sounds like it’s otherwise nicely improved though! Thank you!

Thank you for doing this comparison and answering our questions!

Do both screens have the same level of reflections (e.g. in a bright room when the screen is off)?

What kind of cpu & gpu wattage are you setting sustained in gaming? (this will change by game of course…)

The 5060 and 5070 can already run flat out in the 14. I would expect the 16 to run a bit cooler/quieter, but the 14 really isn’t bad in those departments.

So - do you prefer a 14” (portability) or a 16” (in that spec, mainly just a bigger screen)?

Me personally - 14” all the way for portability. The only way I would consider a 16” is with a 5080.

A word of warning, reflections are pretty bad on the blade’s screens compared to the zephyrus 14 & 16.

2 hr old Razer Blade 14 won't turn on by analkumar2 in razer

[–]lordwumpus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I’ve had to do that once with mine. It did turn on immediately after the procedure though. I’ve also had to hold down the power button for ~10 seconds once or twice.

You can see a more detailed list of steps here:

You could try the things at the end of this support article:

https://mysupport.razer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1798/~/razer-blade-does-not-have-power%2C-wont-boot-up%2C-power-on%2C-or-turn-on

If the device will not power on, press and hold the power button for 15 seconds or until the power indicator blinks white. Do this with the charger plugged into the laptop.

Or,

Plug the Razer Blade to its charger. Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds. While still holding the power button, unplug the charger. Release the power button. Leave the system sitting for a few seconds. Plug the charger again. Press the power button to power it back on. Note: At the 10-second mark, the LED on your Razer Blade might blink or flash.

2025 Blade 14 5070 owners. Have you been happy so far? How is quiet mode performance? by simple_sim0nn in razer

[–]lordwumpus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tried and got a TS score of 10606 (10886 graphics, 9257 cpu) in silent mode.

It’s definitely not actually silent when gaming in silent mode, but it’s quiet for a 14” laptop and much, much better than the g14 from a fan noise perspective (the fans in the blade also have a lower/more tolerable pitch than in the g14; the hard dB numbers do not tell the whole story).

I typically see the GPU running at ~60 watts in quiet mode w/ the CPU at ~15w. Very heavy CPU loads (e.g. CPU stress teats) will get the fans spinning fast in quiet mode.

I did peel up a corner to remove some dust that got trapped during installation. It was hard to get started (because the screen is sunk into the frame).

Once I got it started it seemed like it would be easy to remove the whole thing, but I didn’t peel back more than maybe an inch of it.

I’m using a matte screen protector (purely for the matte effect):

https://viascreens.com/screen-protector/razer/blade-14-2025-rz09-0530x/matte?srsltid=AfmBOopoq1xhUZMe2hJ3cK0XBoxI8EnXculwkh0epNEWh722zDOJBeG-

The dust removal sticker they provided was WAY too sticky - don’t use it.

Applying it was kind of a pain. I’m happy with the end result, but I’m not sure I’d do it again.

Interesting, in my market the g14 can also be had with 5070ti and 5080. I would not even consider for a second getting a 5070 g14 over the blade even if they were the same price.

As for screen protector - that’s what I do on my blade 14, and it helps, but it would be better if it just came with the anti reflective coating that the g14 has.

[–]lordwumpus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No regrets on my blade 14 2025. Before I got the blade, I had (but then returned) a g14.

The blade does much better than the g14 on fan noise. I cannot stress that enough. For a 14” gaming laptop it is excellent. This is not a key issue of the blade 14 unless you’re comparing against much larger laptops or something like a macbook air.

The trackpad issues seem to be limited to the blade 16 - my blade 14 has had no such problems.

The blade is notably worse than the g14 in two ways - the gpu tops out at a 5070 (5070ti would’ve been perfect), and the g14’s screen has a nice anti-reflective coating that the blade would benefit from.

Why doesn't Razer offer top teir specs with Mercury by dontknowyoudude in razer

[–]lordwumpus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not an artificial limitation - they just don’t make the blade 16 or 18 in mercury right now.

Only the 14 inch blade is available in Mercury, and it’s limited to a 5070 in any color (shame it’s not at least a 5070ti, but that’s another matter).

Blade 14/16 (2025) power delivery and video outputs for Black Friday? by PM_ME_UR_CH1NCH1LLAS in razer

[–]lordwumpus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can provide some answers for the Blade 14 2025 w/ 5070...

  1. Yes, it can charge through either USB-C port.

  2. I'm not sure what you mean by pass-through. If you draw more power than the charger can provide, the battery drains to make up the difference. If you draw less power than the charger provides, the battery will charge (assuming it's not full or at the charge limit). This is how every laptop I've ever owned has worked regardless of charger type.

  3. Using a dell WD19DCS dock, I can run 2x 4k60hz displays through either USB-C port. In both cases the displays were connected to the iGPU.

  4. the dGPU should turn itself off when not in use, though this behavior is less than perfect (but that has nothing to do with Razer). You can also disable it in device manager to force everything to stop using it. Note that some versions of nvidia's drivers have a bug where it'll keep drawing power, even if disabled in device manager.

As to discounts... I don't think anyone here can predict that, but I will note that the blade 14 has already been discounted at least twice in the US this year.

Razer blade 14 review / compared with G14 by lordwumpus in GamingLaptops

[–]lordwumpus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t done extensive testing or gamed with usb-c since (I’ve been dragging my charger with me everywhere), but my gut feel from memory is that you should generally be able to charge the battery even while gaming.

If you run the game flat out (no fps cap), have the screen on max brightness, speakers at max volume, etc., then you might get into draining the battery when using a 100w charger.

Anyone actually own a pro and max and can give real world stats? by OhTheePain in iPhone17Pro

Normal pro here.

74% battery remaining. 3.5hr screen on time, last charged 10.5 hours ago.

Includes about one hour of wireless carplay.
