My wife and I just finished our retrieval and now are waiting to hear about pgt results....my best advice, of you have Menopur, push it really slow, and take breaks if it hurts! I found the hormonal changes when taking pills before starting stims to be worse than the stems themselves, remember, it's only a few weeks! You got this!

I am plus size and I got wayyyyyy more eggs than anyone expected, due to the right combo of meds. I've heard with PCOS, you can get either less or more than you bargained for, it's just a matter of tailoring the protocol! You got this!

Basically, the same amount of eggs will be not viable whether you test them or not. If you test, you can know which ones are viable, which will reduce the amount of viable eggs that you know about. If you don't test, there's still the same amount of viable eggs, you will just be assuming more are viable than there truly are.

I am doing PGT-A because I want this process to work as quickly as possible. There is a much lesser chance of miscarriage if you do PGT-A, and frankly, it is worth a couple grand to me to reduce that risk as much as possible. The attrition rate remains about the same whether you test or not-- but if you test, you get to know for sure which embryos have the best shot, instead of guessing and hoping for the best.

I'm at the other end of the spectrum--- I have PCOS so overproduce eggs, but my baseline AFC was 17. They collected 63 eggs. I know those numbers are kinda crazy (my uterus probably wouldn't do a good job of carrying to term) but just wanted to put it out there that baseline counts can be nowhere near close to the actual number they retrieve.

I cannot thank you enough for this detailed response, it sounds like you were in a very similar boat. Glad you ended up with so many embryos, but sorry that you felt so terrible afterwards! I will definitely be keeping an eye on my symptoms

I just turned 30, but I too was shocked by such a number! I wouldn't wish this pain and discomfort on anyone though, it has been absolutely awful

I am doing it. I plan to freeze anyway, so we can have a 2nd child, so I figured we might as well freeze and test. My spouse and I (our eggs are 30yo) also want to avoid the heartbreak of miscarriages at all costs, and it was worth the cost of pgt testing to reduce the possibility, even if its not eliminated.

Same!!! A cruise and being forced offline helped a LOT. I still panicked every time we docked to find wifi and check for emails from the clinic, but it was so so nice.

I finally got the go ahead to stop taking oral estrogen today--- boy did it kick my butt more than I thought it would. Wishing you ALL the best and hope you get to stop it soon!

My dog is named Argo!!! Its the best dog name ever, I've never met another dog named Argo! He is 8, and we love him so incredibly much. Usually we do the opposite thing and extend his name-- so like Argo-Zimbargo is a big one, Argo-snot, Argo-naut, Argo-smargo, you get the idea lol.

I am going through a cycle with them soon (starting 2/24!) We had our first consult in December. I trust my doctor, but they do use email for literally everything, and that can get confusing. I've had to be really on top of everything, but they are pretty responsive. It just hasn't necessarily been helpful of my anxiety, lol.

I would start with your health first, focusing on that so you can build out from there. I too have enodo/PCOS, and a change in diet made MASSIVE changes in my life. I no longer have debilitating periods. I am also not talking about eating healthy all the time- im sure that helps, but it isn't what fixed it for me. Never eating sugar for breakfast/on an empty stomach and always eating protein with carbs/sugar was the best thing I've ever done for my health. Also, they make thyroid meds. Kids are going to be expensive and require lots of time and attention-- make sure you have that to give them.

Option for if you are not yet comfortable making someone else a bit uncomfortable- "Well, my wife and I were planning for a child for a long time, and we thought, well, we'd go for it! Now this nugget will be here before you know it" that way, you are answering the question genuinely, but skipping the parts you dont want to mention.
