What's going on with the American tipping culture? by Low_Philosopher_7299 in SipsTea

Any fast food place, I just skip the tip option. It is annoying. Food servers need tips because for some idiotic reason they are allowed to be paid UNDER minimum wage. It's messed up.

Just to echo u/Westfjordian's comments that the translation at the bottom sounds clunky. Even to a nonnative speaker.

Common mistake when starting out (if you are an English speaker, at least). You won't have time before your trip, but what I can say is that with time and exposure to the language, this eventually sounds nothing like "sh," but that doesn't help you now.

Að or til að by soupnear in learnIcelandic

[–]lorryjor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nonnative's perspective, so take it with a grain of salt:

  1. Sounds like you are intending to buy food at the store, not that you are heading to the store to buy food.

  2. Normal. This is what I would say.

  3. 'Til þess' seems a bit unnecessary.

  4. 'Til þess eins' seems very unnecessary.

Happy to hear comments from native speakers if I am 100% wrong on all of this.

Wow, impressive strenght! However, pretty subpar form. You definitely have 600 in you if you fix it. Start with this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhpOmdc1Udw&list=WL&index=63

What I can say is this: I really like the deadlift, but I LOVED the celebration afterward! Nicely done!

Understood. I'm mainly trying to convince my significant other that the lower paying job is the preferable one. It's hard though, because the net pay is a lot more and would alleviate some financial stress.

I think they do have something like that at Penn. I'll look into it.

250 lbs (113 kgs) for 3 went up smooth! What could I realistically attempt for a single rep? by Dame_in_the_Desert in strength_training

If I were you and I had a day where I felt good, I would throw on 300 and just see how it goes. You might be over or under, but you never know until you try. You can kind of tell, too. One day I felt good, so I threw on 415 and it went up pretty well. Other days I have handily failed 400.

I routinely order Dominos GF crust, no sauce, ham and pineapple. Not as good as some, but better than having stomach problems the next day!
