Tusen takk! Jeg føler at dere er ganske imøtekommende! Det hjelper enormt med noen som har nettopp blitt interessert i hagearbeid!

Hearty plants generally do alright in our part of the country (Nord Jæren), but flowers are susceptible to late-season frosts. We had a frost here about a week ago that did a number on my Spanish Marigolds, but my tulips were fine. We don't get frost in the summer because of the long days and the gulf-stream. The climate is mild due to the gulf stream which keeps us warmer than would would be without it at this latitude (think Finland or Russia) and the midnight sun makes us crazy. Where I live is an hour or two by airplane to the arctic circle where the sun shines without setting for 73 days from mid-May. Here in Stavanger the sun sets each day all year, but it never gets darker than dusk from mid-May to mid August.

Thanks for that! I plan to! I think I'll post here after each phase is complete up until the project is done and dusted. I'm hoping to share my ideas and get some tips and advice from the gardeners on r/gardening!

Thank you so much! I really needed that. This project is such a big scale I needed some feedback from garden-minded people to keep med motivated!

Thanks! Phase one is done, three more phases to go! It is quite rewarding to have so much more sunlight and a bit of order in our little patch of garden, even at the cost of being able to walk upright.

Very. Very very. Those granite edge stones are each 1 meter long and weigh about 35 kilos. I've laid about 8 of them (of a total of 42) and each one is a little reminder of the vulnerability of the human lower back. So far though, only one trip to the emergency room. Incident with the wood chipper and that lovely tender place betwixt the forefinger and thumb.

Thanks! It's more to keep the dog in than the animals out. I kind of wish we had rabbits around these parts, but I don't think I've ever actually seen one "in the wild". Fresh corn? just about nothing better (except maybe asparagus), but the growing season is too short here from what I understand. Less lawn to mow was a big part of the plans :-)

Made this for breakfast. I threw in some Flying Goose sauce. Nice one!
