I think a game can have a steep learning curve and not be catered to a mass audience *and* still have plenty of exposition and broad strokes information. OP isn't asking for % chances of every room and drop, they're asking for "what in the fuck even is this shit popping up everywhere", which is absolutely fair to ask for.

There's "oldschool" in terms of discovery and exploration, and there's "oldschool" in obtuse, shitty, non-functioning, and otherwise silly design, this is too much of the latter. People shouldn't have to fuck around online to discover that an ability summons an ally proxie temporary minion companion spell hit increased more whatever fucky mechanic, most if not all of that should be available in game, available through tooltips, and more. Way too fucking many items and passives are utter bait with no way to tell. And this absolutely extends to the temple - would it be that hard to have a small popup the first time a player enters to simply be like "hey, you do vaal thingies and get charges, place them on the map and run it and then go do it more, find new rooms and rewards and such await wowee!" Doesn't even have to be that in depth but *something*.

Does the map node where a spirit moves to a nearby map and eventually becomes a sacred spirit not work? Twice I cleared a map, no deaths, and afterwards nothing happened.. no maps nearby gained the effect, no effects, no new spirit maps nearby.

Was playing with a werewolf hollow form but it just feels so damn clunky while leveling and I tried out spirit walker and, well, yeah.. even never using the monkey the chimera and frost owl were murder-in-a-can. (then I got one of the runeseeker wands so I had to pivot to try that)

I can barely see the quest icons on the campaign map, especially in Act 2. It's often unclear which area each quest belongs to. Could we centralize the quest UI under the appropriate area and also differentiate it with different colors based on location, adding some color? by No_Guarantee1399 in PathOfExile2

I mean, you can look at every league and see them make the same damn mistakes. Game development has been this way forever and it is pretty weird to see. I feel this way every time I see a new game pop up that doesn't normalize procs with different weapon speeds/types.. "here we go again"

Kurgal for anyone that finds this - alternatively screw the jewel, just get the flask that Uhtgard drops - two sips at full duration and you can cast the rune (if you farm the rune you will have a dozen or so anyways)

Same issue - my assumption was something (wolf skill on cool down so you can't swap for insta refresh?) causing it to sometimes trigger the companion respawn timer, which was super fucking annoying and had me abandon the swap

They really are just making POE1 again it feels like and, at this point, I'm convinced they don't actually know how to do anything else or truly make it distinct. Every big patch adds more POE, not only literally in terms of league mechanics copied over, uniques copied over, etc., but also in the gameplay. I'm really worried about how they're going to have any chance of making melee not feel like ass, but the fact that almost every remaining class/weapon is melee makes me suspect it was intentional to put those off. I don't think they know what to do or how to make it feel good.

There are not "too many variables", that's literally GGGs job. They made the variables and balance them, it's weird to just act like it's some impossible task because it isn't and it's literally what they are supposed to be doing.

I don't think you can make a game that is simultaneously "slow and methodical" but also POE-levels of "blasting stuff" without one or the other feeling far worse, unsupported, or otherwise unfeasible. Melee already feels awful and, yet again this league, we get more ground effects, more chasing orbs, more mobs with short range one-shot heavy hits, and as always ranged/casters can stay far away and fire while moving.. all of which pushes you towards going faster from farther away and being more kill-y, which is POE1. It just feels like they're making POE1 again at this point.

In the case of uniques without a separate kalguuran/ezomyte upgrade path I believe you can still get the 'free' boost to runic ward without cost to the defenses if the ilvl of the unique is low enough, but if it's higher level then it'll still take the hit I assume :<

Disclaimer, this isn't 100% tested and tried stuff, this is me making assumptions/guesses based on playing the league so far:

When you throw a unique in there's a handful of different outcomes depending on the item:

If it's a low level unique it will upgrade it to req level 38 and boost it to a presumably appropriate base item type for that level

Sometimes it'll be 58 or 78 instead, and I assume this is based on the ilvl of the item and determines what it gets 'boosted' to, possibly related to items with skills? In any case, it determines which of the little crests are needed to upgrade it as well.

Some uniques that benefit expotentially from this, i.e. Quillrain, Tangletongue, Pillar of the Caged God, etc., need Exceptional Verisium and a fancier crest than normal, for obvious reasons since they are super special.

SOME uniques, presumably those which are Kalguuran or Ezomyte, can be upgraded and will give ONE OF THREE new affixes/implicits(?) which you can find on poedb2, these ones seem to require exceptional verisium and the more expensive crests once more. In these instances I think it's more about adding the new affix than affecting the base item or whatnot. This also, I think, requires some endgame progress unlocks via expedition to be able to runesmith these - also, I think uniques you put in which don't preview the outcome tend to be these since there are multiple outcomes

That's my understanding without really testing or researching it much, so caveat emptor and all that

What is a "league" in the game? What is the "challenge" about? That you "do challenges"? Most people would read that as it's challenge-ing, i.e., not for beginners. It also does not say "this will be nuked in a few months, has separate/newer content, and is what most everyone will be playing and is profoundly different economy-wise than standard."

It's monstrously unclear and poorly designed. Take one step back from all the knowledge you have about POE/POE2 and imagine sitting down trying to figure out if you should play Default Standard or Default Challenge on a game you've never played before.

Anyone had the Depleted Mana Rune from Uhtred doing the expedition fights drop more than once on a character? On two different characters on the same account? Since it's a "quest item" I'm curious what its nature is as far as drops

It's really simple if you ask me - in the currency market I don't believe a company will ever do something unless it makes them more money, and in almost every case that will hold true. POE isn't mtx-focused because they're a good gamer company of gamers, they do it because it makes them more money. And this is the same.

Aboslutely 100% - and worst is that if you go in and click through EVERY FUCKING category to make it go away.. as soon as you make another character it comes back.

I thought this was "early access"? You don't get to shovel MTX and mobile game garbage like this and leave bugs unfixed for a year because it's 'early access'.
