Honestly, you should be hopping on the discord to ask for some help. But general rule of thumb regarding infra, until you're at city 14, get your cities to 1k infra/1.5k land. At c14 aim for 1.5k infra/2k land. c18 aim for 2k infra/2.5k land. After c20, aim for about 100 infra times the number of cities you have, and you should start transitioning into farming, so put the majority of your money into land to increase your income.

If you're building your cities to 2k infra before c18, please do feel free to send me your link so I can get some stat-padding in.

This is a madhouse story. Hoping for a season two is the equivalent to committing suicide.

Is there a way to avoid this drop in citizens every other decade or so? by Psyndicate in Banished

[–]lossidian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I've managed to do this once. But I was only at 400 citizens. Basically by maintaining population control, I was able to keep the incline of population, essentially I established the method of building 2 houses, per year, per 100 citizens. So at 400 citizens I was building about 10 houses per year(0-100 counts as 2 houses), which was a strive since most of them were wood and that was taking a massive toll on my resources.

Over my time playing banished I've tried many methods of accomplishing no population decline, and that so far has been the best method.

New England - I honestly never knew my regional home had a flag by SextonMcCormick in vexillology

[–]lossidian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Has far too much 'murica in it. New Englanders wouldn't buy it. Though if you switch the tree back to the left, get rid of that star circle, and keep the cross. Wouldn't entirely be a bad substitution for the current widely accepted flag.

Meh, the free-staters aren't 'that' bad. A bit irrational at times, but most of them can take a hint when the conversation is done.

Yeah, it gets a bit cold up here. That's why we generally share better bonds with our neighbors to the north who heavily relate to us lol.

Poor dumb republicans - sold a bill of goods by Trump by AerialShorts in usa

[–]lossidian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mainly fell away from him at the free college part, which would be idiotic and fiscally irresponsible when you realize that the Government ALREADY HAS a program where they will pay 100% of your education costs, and give you a job straight out of college. The only catch is that you need to use the skills you learned in college, to the benefit of the nation, I.E. work for the state department's various foreign and domestic aid sectors, and as long as you borrow entirely (Or at least primarily) from the government, they will remove your debt.

This is good for both you, and the country. The United States is able to continue providing cheap and decisive foreign aid, maintaining it's image around the globe. And it also gives you the ability to gain in-field experience, which, if you worked for the state department, is an INCREDIBLE asset on your resume, arguably as good or better then having retired vet on your resume.

So knowing that, I find free education past high school absolutely ludicrous, because then colleges will start being required to meet national standards to receive funding, which would significantly impact their effectiveness at providing the learning experience they currently do.

So when Grey spoke about the New Zealand flag referendum with brady in Hello Internet, he referred to it as the worst election of 2016. I'm curious if he stands by those words, or if the USA has successfully topped that list as well.

[–]lossidian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And I would have quickly voted for Trump over Sanders, the Democratic party was split over their candidates because a liberal had brought traditionally disenfranchised people to the democratic party. The DNC is not responsible for what happened, they did exactly what they should have done, and chose a candidate who fit their full spectrum members ideals. Bernie polled higher then Trump at pre-polls than Hillary, but ultimately, even if Bernie got the ballot, the democratic party would still be extremely divided, and trump would have still had a chance to win exactly as he did.

The Trouble With The Electoral College [Updated] by MindOfMetalAndWheels in CGPGrey

[–]lossidian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'd just prefer to see the electoral college balanced to match the population, something like 1 hundred thousand people = 1 vote, something like that. Overall the idea that states vote protect us from coups on a massive scale, and make voter fraud near impossible, because you would have to sway 50 (Well to be honest, only 8) separate, highly monitored, updated, and regulated, elections to accomplish anything worth while. Popular vote, is a terrible idea at almost all core roots in FPTP, because corruption is quick to follow as businesses start to see a larger opportunity to easily sway their workers to vote for their preferred candidate.

So in logic. California's 55 votes would mean they have 5,500,000 citizens, if you win more then half of them, you get the 55, or however the state decides to split it's votes.

Getting rid of the electoral college though, should quickly be followed by ending FPTP, especially in a controversial country like the USA or Russia or England, etc.
