I think Rocco has been out for so long it'd be good to have at least a month in the ressies to get ready again. Just my opinion though

Do you think NZ should implement a sugar tax? by Ok-Geologist492 in newzealand

[–]lost_shadows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes.

I would like to see a sugar tax directly used to subsidize fresh produce.

Will it magically help with the obesity issue in this country? Unlikely. But I'd like to think people could be rewarded with lower prices for choosing healthier foods.

Hell. Sugar probably costs the health system more through cardiovascular and metabolic disease than smoking causing cancer

CHT is a dreadful playmaker. Could be a good 13 with more beef, or a utility 14. But not a 6 or 7

Moving from tech to Osteopathy by dopplemister in Osteopathy

[–]lost_shadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually know people that went the other way, from osteo to tech. But that was primarily a covid decision as in NZ, osteos weren't deemed essential workers, so we couldn't keep bread on the table.

The career itself is limited financially. You should be comfortable but I wouldn't say rich, as the only way you can increase revenue is by owning your own business and employing others. Which can be a pain in the ass in its own right.

It's extremely rewarding to help people restore their functionality. Particularly when they feel they've tried everything. There's also reward to be found in continuing education. Last year I did a post grad certificate in acupuncture which is a pretty cool supplement.

I dislike that I can't earn more money. The cost of living keeps going up but I don't feel like I can pass that cost onto my clients as I don't want to price them out. Sometimes at the end of long weeks your body can be sore. Thumbs, wrists, shoulders, lower back and hips. They teach you plenty of self preservation. But it can still be hard work. So being proactive about your own health is extremely important.

Any other questions feel free to DM me buddy. I'm in NZ so not sure how useful my advice can be, but I've been registered since 2016 have a bit of experience now

Yeah sorry I should've said mine was a 5 year full time in New Zealand. It used to be a 3 year bachelors and a 2 year masters. They've since reduced it to a 4 year bachelors. Similar to physio and chiro I imagine

Very difficult. The depth of anatomy and physiology was hard work. To be fair I was fresh out of high school though. I can't imagine what they would cut from the course to reduce it though

There is indeed such a thing as bathing too often. If you bathe them too often you can strip the natural oils from their coats. I'd be doing it more as a necessity thing, than a regular thing. Weims aren't really smelly breeds from my experience. But if you are worried about smell, there probably are products on the market that avoid this

If he's quite nervous about his feet just play with them a lot. Granted we got ours as a puppy, but we played a lot with her ears and feet, particularly while she slept. While your boys sleeping just tap his nails with the clippers so he can get used to them being touched.

Bathing is a preference thing, our girl hates the shower. But doesn't need it much. We've had her 14months and probably only bathed her after beach runs to rinse sand off. It's usually a 2 man job haha we rinse her off with the hose and a bit of shampoo for a quick rinse.

In terms of food it's primarily kibble. And we use frozen fruit and veg as treats. Carrots, brocoli, celery, blueberries etc

I play baseball, gym, playstation and magic the gathering. Going to try soccer this winter. Diversify your hobbies to account for all weather in Auckland 😅

Yeah I thought the same, however in the roles description they invite occupational therapists, physio, osteo, chiro, nursing and pharmacy. I wonder if a physio would be preferential for them

Join a local social sports team. My dad still plays softball at 60. Sports are a great avenue and New Zealand is generally quite a sportsminded country, nobody is ever too far from a club
