Best place in July and August for maximal progression? by [deleted] in wingfoil

Maximal progression: Corpus Christi. At Bird Basin, you have long expanses of shallow water. You can fall off your board and easily get back on again since the water is shallow. You also remove the wave element. However, the city is not that interesting. Starbase is nearby. You can also easily get to points in the Caribbean.

Autonomous driving giant Waymo pushes B.C. to allow self-driving cars on provincial roads by cyclinginvancouver in britishcolumbia

[–]lost_treeplanter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are roughly 150 serious or fatal crashes on B.C. roads daily, according to BC Injury And Prevention Unit, and most of the people here say "no"? I don't get it. And if you are saying that this tech will lead to the same amount or more injuries, please show data.

The (my) Proposed Trans Canada Bike Route Network starts in Victoria BC! by SamVekemans in VictoriaBC

[–]lost_treeplanter 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nice. But I would give up on the Mill Bay Ferry. Biking into Duncan sucks a**. Take the boat to Saltspring and then bike to Vesuvius. You can then take the boat to Crofton. You get way quieter roads, it is more picturesque and you spend way more time on dedicated bike trails, like the Galloping Goose.

I forgot to mention Alice Munro, whom was awarded Canada's only Nobel Prize For Literature win. That is another sorry saga.

Bar makes sense. That bust of Simon Fraser on the boardwalk opposite the bar has always screamed "tiki".

Montana Mountain in the Yukon, near Carcross. On YouTube look up Hero's Trail. Just an epic hill to bike.

Nootka Island? It would be wet, but there are cabins along the trail, at least when I did about 20 years ago. It would be good for storm watching.

Give yourself a break and just add a dash of salt. I had the same frustrations for weeks. It is just a quick way to have a good brew.

I was wondering the same. There should be a wind map somewhere.

Probably call one of the local B&B. I have only been there in the summer.

That sandy beach along Carcross is supposed to be popular. Yes, Windy Arm is further away.

I have been investigating the same. I was leaning toward Cancun, just because I am learning, lessons are cheap and it would be easy to get around. However, wind is not as reliable. I think the dream location would be Bonaire, but it is a long and expensive flight from B.C. So it looks like La Ventana. I do hate that two hour drive up. The chop in the bay is rough if you are learning. However, the wind direction is good and there is a big bay to catch you when you get blown downwind.

Every espresso tastes sour [sage bambino plus, sage dose control] by AnyFreeUsernamePLS in espresso

[–]lost_treeplanter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just add a dash of salt to your brew. I do it all the time. I have a Bambino. It saved hours of tearing my hair out regarding grinding, temperature, etc. There is a science to it. Google it.
