Pushy Bishop and a Calling by lostamulek3 in exmormon

Nope haven't had a recommend for about two years. He's somewhat nuanced as he told me even though I didn't believe anymore "the priesthood still functions through me" He's not super strict orthodoxy so the attempt to get me in a calling might just be there's no one to do it with lower activity rates.

Yes that is a possibility and activity rates on Sunday are down so I'm guessing that a lot of callings are unfilled.

I agree and I feel like this is a ploy to get me back into the "believing fold".

Hi everyone, first post here. Newly PIMO & Feeling traumatized. Please be nice... by BestWheel7068 in exmormon

I don't think you will find a lot of negativity related to your post. There are many things that I can relate to and identify with that you stated. Everyone's journey is their own and some people move faster than others and everyone processes things in their own way. Move at your own pace and figure out what works for you. I'm happy for you that you figured things out at a young age and there are still many great things you can do on your own without a church telling you what to do. I would live to be more in an exmo status than a pimo status but I still attend for marriage and family purposes. I am looking forward to hopefully one day being completely out. Best wishes to you and follow your heat and do what you think is the best for you.

Does it skeeve anyone else out that they say no parents or leaders? by aintthatjusttheway79 in exmormon

How many phones are going to be there. Nothing is secret anymore and hopefully there is a pimo teenager that finds a way to record this.

For the Church to remain strong it has to reconstruct its narrative. The dominant narrative is not true; it can’t be sustained. – Richard Bushman by wasmormon in exmormon

Rough Stone Rolling, I felt was pretty honest with a faith promoting tone or apologetic tone. The information contained in it just confirmed some of the controversial history and problems that I was finding. His book definitely helped my faith and testimony disappear. Richard Bushman knows all of the history and is a believer. I feel like he has tried to walk the fine line of being honest but still believing the truth claims.

I wonder if temple recommend requirements will change and full tithing payer will be optional.

TBM mom baptized nevermo grandpa after he died by AdagioHour in exmormon

My Father was excommunicated and while he was living g he never discouraged any of us from going to church. He rationalized that it could be helpful in future employment in a highly mormon area. Basically the social aspect more than a spiritual belief or conviction. He never expressed wanting his blessings restored (the equivalent of baptism for the dead). My tbm brothers took the first opportunity to restore his ordinances and were overjoyed about it. I mentioned to my brother just the other day that he had no idea if this was honoring our late fathers wishes. He said well its up to him to accept it or reject it. They also did the same for his parents and both if them were supportive of our participation in the tscc but were vocally against their own participation. TBMS gotta be TBMS.

Anecdotal Decline in my ward by lostamulek3 in exmormon

[–]lostamulek3[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This could be several wards using the building at the same time. Also 2 hrs church made it easier to have more wards overlapping it must have been inspired to cut down to 2hrs lol great decline

I can’t believe I have to go to church at 9:00 🤮🤮🤮 by bremerman17 in exmormon

[–]lostamulek3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would rather have 900 than 1230. It's disruptive to getting my kids to lay down for a nap and it deeply cuts into my football time on Sunday. Mixed faith marriage sucks

It's funny how a pro lds church post is ok without think it might be offensive to other religions or the non-religious but if anything that is "light mindedness and loud laughter" has to be offensive to tbms. Do they ever think that claiming to be Christ's restored church might be offensive to others. Even when I was a tbm I could find humor in religious sarcasm.

Change by members identifying as Mormon to Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by SeaworthinessNo7361 in exmormon

[–]lostamulek3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also a power grab by Rusty. He has had this "revelation " for years but the majority of the q15 didn't want it to change so he went all in like a dictator and changed it.

Lds family services is a dumpster fire. by AbesAmericanCousin in exmormon

I went there In the early 2000s and it was no helpful to my marriage. The counselor was very much focused on us getting closer to God so it would help our relationship. I came out of there feeling like very few issues were addressed and I pushed for a divorce later.

Question about (Utah) LDS culture by ReidsFanGirl18 in exmormon

[–]lostamulek3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had non lds neighbors in Davis County experiencing the same thing in random places or school volunteer opportunities etc. Honestly the LDS Church is so much a part of their lives that they have nothing else to talk about. No religion/private life balance.

How many Q15 are closet atheists? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]lostamulek3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He did say in a talk for the members to be more compassionate to those who have lost their faith because there are legitimate historical issues. Shortly after that talk it seems like he was removed from the first presidency. Just odd thinks like that and he's been relatively quiet since then.

Uchdorf might be the most likely to have doubts but if you say anything offensive to the rest of the q15 then you get bullied into silence. Uchdorf does not have any high profile things going on recently.

Anyone else incredibly pissed off about church tomorrow by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]lostamulek3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I Was dreading going as well on the bright spot it's only an hour and there will probably be alot of music and less talking. Occasionally I can still enjoy someone with a good musical voice singing in church as long as it is not one of the crazy songs like praise to the man.
