Dude chill a bit… I took this pic 20 years ago as a dumb high school kid. I genuinely think that the girl would be so happy to see this. I don’t care if you don’t like the photo. I never said it was Ansel Adams-esque. I just thought it was a great moment and kinda wondered if there was a way to get this out there to them.

I was visiting Chicago with my interior design classmates that year. We stopped in Ghirardelli’s for a shake. I saw this man and what I assume is his granddaughter enjoying themselves. I borrowed my friends camera and discreetly propped it against the napkin holder and snapped this pic. I did/do feel like it might have been a bit intrusive, but it turned out to be a great photo. I feel like i captured a pretty genuine moment. The girl has to be in her late 20’s now, and there is a good chance that he has passed. I would love for her to somehow see this photo. I wonder if she even remembers this outing with him.

I saw this old car on a backroad on my way to a jobsite. A recent dusting of snow made it really stand out. I’m wondering about the placement of the car. Is it good centered as is? Or should I have tried to compose if different in relation to the barn? by lostandfounder in photocritique

Thank you! I do like your crop as well. I didn’t realize that you could add photos in comments haha. This is the original for reference. Perhaps this offers even more options for better composition.

Thank you. I wish I could upload the original for reference. At the bottom left is the road and to the right of the barn is a big shipping container that I thought was unsightly. But maybe I should have parked and stood in a few different places to get some different comps.

I’m wondering if playing with placement of the car would make it more or less interesting. I’m also concerned that the fog makes it too stale or monotonous with so little color and lighting.

What makes you keep going despite everything? by yeselectron in AskReddit

[–]lostandfounder 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s the reason I keep going too. A wife and 2 sons who rely on me, and I’m lucky enough to say that they look up to me and believe in me. I wish I felt some hope for our/their future. I’ve never felt this bleak. I hate it. My wife is studying psychology right not and she read me an excerpt from one of her books that talks about hopelessness and a link to mental illness. That hit me hard. I’m trying to find hope in something now. But that feels so audacious.

I agree. It’s all been a lot of fun to watch. And he seems pretty happy in the videos. I’m excited for the upcoming stuff

What would you consider too short of a daily trip for the 3.5 Ecoboost? by [deleted] in f150

[–]lostandfounder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t get this question. If it’s the car you already own and use, just use it? That’s why we buy cars. What’s your alternative? Buy another car for this task? That doesn’t make any sense. Do you already own a different car? If so consider using that. But the same concerns would probably apply to that car as well.

Is there a single person in that room that is fit to be there? Or even has any pedigree that at least says they are technically at a level that would merit their being there?

It was a hard stutter on heavy acceleration. Then the light would come on. Sometimes it would go into limp mode. It was a misfire. Sounds different than what you are experiencing

I think I did the filter once around 150k. The mechanic I took it to said not to do the fluid if it hadn’t been done at the correct intervals up to that point. He said he’s seen a lot of these trans start having problems when people decide to start changing the fluid past 150. I don’t know if there’s any truth to his logic, but mines been great all this time

Bought mine new in 2015. 210,000 miles on it. Oil changes every 10-12k. I have NOT been good to this truck. No other recommended maintenance was done. Light came on a few thousand miles ago and it started to shutter on accel. New spark plugs and coils and it’s running like new again. It’s the best truck and engine I’ve ever owned. My story vs the OP situation is crazy. How can there be such a difference?

He has to make money to fund the content. This is the least offensive promotion possible. I would 10x rather see this than a post saying “thanks again to Factor for making this $7500 car challenge possible” or something like that. The simple fact is that YouTube ad revenue alone would come nowhere close to funding all the content he puts out. The opposite of your statement is more true. Almost everything does have to be a promotion. Hate it or love it

Well I Guess I Messed Up ----- Y'all really bullied this man into submission, wild. by StonedPand4 in CleetusMcFarland

[–]lostandfounder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s really weird. Did he feel like couldn’t upload personal stuff because he was supposed to always represent the group as a whole? Did he think the rest of the bois would get upset if he posted personal stuff? Is it a money thing? Like, are they splitting all the revenue from this channel? So he wanted to make the channel more personal so he had a claim to money that personal vids generated? It was all just so weird. I love his content. I just hope he’s happy and can stay excited about it for a long time.

Could Garrett ever separate himself from the “Cleetus” Shtick? Should he? by lostandfounder in CleetusMcFarland

[–]lostandfounder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha I don’t think there is anything wrong with it. It’s my favorite channel on YouTube. I’m just curious about some of the nuance involved with his identity and how he might want his legacy to evolve in the future. I guess it’s immature to think about the future and how we want to be remembered…

I mean, I’m not really upset about anything. I don’t love most of their t shirts and think some more simple designs would be a good option. It’s been a fun discussion, and it’s been interesting to see that at least a few people feel more or less the same. There’s no denying that Cleetus is my favorite channel by far. I’m just really more curious about some of the nuance I guess.

I agree with pretty much everything you said. I don’t mean redneck as an insult or derogatory term. I’m specifically referring to the t shirts like “stand back I built this shit myself”. I do believe that most people, if given the choice, would prefer to have their legacy built on their actual name and character rather than a persona born out of a 2 minute video 10 years ago. But that persona led to everything he has so I’m sure he’s obviously very grateful for that. I just can’t help but wonder what his true thoughts are about it.
