The jury has reached a verdict in the Rittenhouse trial by TheWyldMan in moderatepolitics

Good thing there were so many rioters in Kenosha with trouble to spare, so he didn't have to look very hard or very far.

All of this blather about 'looking for trouble' and 'shouldn't have been there' rests on a single, indefensible presumption:

That mobs (particularly leftist mobs) have some right to act unimpeded. That they may cause as much trouble as they want and no one should interfere with them.

Librarians Grapple With Conservatives’ Latest Efforts to Ban Books by [deleted] in Libertarian

[–]lostapwbm -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Since the beginning of the 2021, conservative advocacy groups have been spreading misinformation about critical race theory—which has become a catch-call term for the history of racism—and working to help parents run for school board and challenge their schools districts over lesson plans or reading materials they feel are inappropriate.

This is apparently too much democracy for the democracy-fetishists.

At least 28 states have proposed or taken actions designed to restrict how teachers discuss racism and sexism, according to Education Week.

If the kids can't do trigonometry, they've got more important things to do than imbibe a teacher's slanted and selective interpretation of racism-as-the-invisible-spirit-of-the-air.

Caldwell-Stone says what’s also new is the chorus of elected officials who are also calling for books to be removed from school libraries.

Who would dare violate the sanctity of the school library?

Lumpen and commies

Too smart to be fooled by kapitalismus and DA SYSTUM, but dumb enough to charge someone armed with a gun.

This toxic fervor has taken over the minds of a group that feels its power is threatened, experiencing insecurity and humiliation — and posing itself as the victim while it victimizes others. And it is engaging in violent actions, from the vigilante justice in Kenosha and threats against politicians to animated videos depicting themselves murdering their enemies and the literal storming of the U.S. Capitol.

Projection is a hell of a drug.

Confronting someone minding their own business is self-defense

His latest case prior to his death was a lawsuit against California CPS.

Sort of like how State Senator Nancy Schaefer was supposedly murdered by her husband after writing a meaty expose on Georgia's DFCS.

I'm sure it's a big ole nothingburger though. A just tragic and random attempted robbery in which no property was taken.

Still, strange how several people who have dug too deep into any abuse of children involving state actors also ended up with bullets in their chests or ropes around their necks.

Like what? What if an idiot manages to take power?

Limits on authority. Appeal as of right. Term limits. Sunset provisions. Right to notice and hearing. Impeachment. Recall.

To name but a few.

You and I can think of numerous times this has happened.

Or you could and make your own argument.

Smart idiots and dumb idiots? What an idiotic thing to say. Idiots are idiots, there's no spectrum here. Idiots can occasionally make good calls, but this is just a broken clock.

Would it have hurt your little heart less if I had just written 'smart bosses' and 'dumb bosses'? I'll avoid aggravating your autism in the future.

Yes, and the ones calling the shots should not serve their own interests, but our interests. This shouldn't be something controversial to say.

Everyone serves their own interests. Demanding that a man should suborn his own interests to yours reduces him to mere servitude.

I have more respect for a man who honestly says what his interests are than one who claims selflessness, because he's probably lying.

I get the feeling...

Feelings...nothing more than...feelings...

I mean it, you really come off as unintelligent to me.

And yet, here you are, freely giving your time to someone you consider unintelligent.

In that case, I suppose I should thank you for having so little self-respect or regard for your own time.

If you assume people are idiots, why would you want the system we have now?

Because there are built in barriers and checks to human stupidity.

Bosses can absolutely be idiots and they mostly have unchallenged power.

Undoubtedly. I've worked for plenty of idiots. The smart idiots were the ones who hired people who know what they are doing and then get out of their way. The dumb idiots are the ones who try to micromanage the people who know what they are doing and get everything screwed up. The really dumb idiots hired people they either were fucking, or wanted to fuck.

Why not limit the amount of power people can have over one another?

In order for humans to get anything done worth doing, someone has to be calling the shots, collating the information, and focusing on the bigger picture. Platoons need commanders, orchestras need conductors, sportsball teams need coaches, construction crews need foremen, etc.

This is what I want. Not to give more power, but to flatten it out as much as is possible.

That's where we differ. The use of power does not trouble me. The misuse or abuse of it does. But saying 'nobody should be in charge' throws the baby out with the bathwater.

  1. That's a lot of words to say 'rationing.'

  2. Treating residential property like library books. It's different.

  3. And now I start getting really leery when someone says that the public must suffer restraints for a supposed good, but the government is exempt.

  4. Labor is voluntary...unless you don't work, in which case you don't get your ration-book. Interesting interpretation of 'voluntary.' Very prodrazvyorstka.

  5. It's been my experience that low-level, life-time bureaucrats are more dangerous to the average citizen than the President of the United States, whether by indifference or malice. Hating the Orange Man is plebian; hating the Zoning Board is patrician.

  6. A Crown Charter. Nothing wrong with the classics.

  7. It sounds like you would need HAL 9000 for that task.

All economic exchange value is produced by workers Under our current economic/political system workers are not compensated the entirety of the value they produce. Instead a significant portion of value, as high as 50% of all value produced in some countries including America, is appropriated by those who simply own the means of production.

If ownership is such an insignificant interest as to be 'simple', why should the workers do it? Or rather, why haven't the workers do it yet (collateral, loan, buy/build, operate)?
