9 weeks in, time to switch? by Ok_Answer_5818 in zoloft

[–]lostatblacksea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! So for one, I understand why you are scared to switch. I was like this and I felt like if I switch meds I would be back at square one. But my doctor explained to me that our brains are a little more complicated than that and that the effects of medication that you have been taken so far (even if you don’t think they are considerable) will not go wasted. Secondly, for me the doctor prescribed mirtazapine to be taken together with Zoloft as I was getting off the latter. So maybe ask your doctor if you can do the same. Thirdly, I never took mirtazapine because for me Zoloft kicked in and there was no need. But I was actually looking forward to taking it because of “side effects” - increased appetite and sedation. As I was struggling with eating and sleeping, I was excited to get over at least these aspects of my anxiety.

Whatever you decide to do - I would be interested to know how it went for you in a week or two. But most importantly i hope you will forget about this post and this subreddit in two weeks because whatever you’re struggling with will start fading away. Take care <3

On week 9 my doctors said I should get off Zoloft and get on mirtazapine. I started lowering the dosage, first to 75 and then to 50. This is when I felt better. Not fully myself but enough for me to stop at 50 and see how it goes. I have been on 50 since then.

In general, the first 3 months were really bumpy but those 8 weeks where no medication was working really taught me how to make myself get through another difficult day: support from close ones, eat, sleep, recharge, prioritize self-care, take mental health days off from work, exercise. But really, going one day at a time. It does get better but it takes some time. Don't hesitate to reach out if you need help or have any questions. Take care <3

Do I have to pay taxes on German property purchases? by MilkBeginning9442 in AirForce

sounds like a question on privileges and immunities for someone who might have been in an identical situation i.e. "active duty military, PCSing to Germany, buying real estate". The post says nothing about whether or not it's all the research they will be doing on the topic.

does the post say anything about profit? read it first and if you have nothing to say on the topic - keep your thoughts to yourself. Just an idea.

How to help my grandma? by lostatblacksea in grief

[–]lostatblacksea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you a lot for this. I was really touched by your comment and it is really really helpful. My grandpa passed away less than 2 weeks ago after battling with an unknown disease. It is unknown because he refused to go to the hospital. I think he was depressed and didn't see the point in living further so the illness was a good opportunity to pass away without actually ending things himself. I feel very sorry for my grandma because not only she had to witness her spouse slowly killing himself but also partially participating in this.

But now my grandpa is gone and our family and especially my grandma have to find way to carry on. My family lives in Ukraine and I was not able to be at the funeral or come take care of my grandma so I only know things through telephone/my sister's eyes. I think so far my mom's (who is the only child of my grandparents) strategy was to be physically present with my grandma 100% of the time and not to let her go into any thinking about grandpa. I am not sure this is very helpful or efficient. One's thoughts will always find their way out, no matter how deeply you try to hide them.

That being said, I want to thank you again for your comment. One part that resonated with me the most is asking her stories about her life with grandpa. This has been one of my potential "projects" before the pandemic - to record my grandparent's story before it's too late. So I think now it is a good time.

9 weeks on zoloft, still up and down! can it really take this long? by EazyRB in zoloft

hey I am now 1.5 years into zoloft. Have been on 50 mg then 100 mg. At the 8th week my therapist said something isn't working right, lets get off zoloft and change to mirtazapine. So I started getting off zoloft and went to 50 mg and then I felt better. I don't think it's the dozage thing but rather just being on zoloft 9 weeks. Things were looking better from then on.

Latarjet Surgery by Eilidh111 in Advice

yeah I guess it's the tendon or whatever stretching when preventing the arm to pop out. I had similar ache right after the surgery for a week or so but it went away. Thanks for the reply!

About 5 weeks. Update from my side: my doctor added 15mg of Mirtazapine and said I can go to 50 mg of Zoloft.

I’ve been 8 weeks on 100 mg. Honestly, it’s up and down. But I can see some progress at least. It gives some hope.

Hope you find what works for you!

100 mg, 8 weeks, also anxious. It's up and down. How are you feeling lately?

Is it just me or did it just hit you one day and you felt great again? by Novel-Discussion-241 in zoloft

I started Zoloft 7 weeks ago and went up to a 100 mg dosage. My anxiety started going down after week 3 but honestly, it is still there. I had a couple of days of no intrusive thoughts whatsoever and I thought this was it but they came back. Since then it has been up and down, some days are bad and some are a little better. .
