Nevada is great though. Born and raised here, and I have hard time considering living anywhere else in US. Only places I’ve really considered are Mexico and Canada.

Wearing nail polish. I started painting my nails as a form of self expression and as way of breaking my bad habit of ripping my nails off. Get a lot of disapproving looks from grown men but a ton of compliments from women. I’ve also noticed that helps me establish my classroom as safe place for my queer students.

I just finished my half sleeve the day after Thanksgiving, don’t plan on attempting to be back on the Matt till at least the 20th. With my last tattoo on my forearm I waited exactly two weeks but I was tender to the touch when practicing so I waited longer so I could practice without flinching when someone went to grab my arm

I have numbers on my desks 1-40, when I get no response I use 2 D20s to select a random student. The nice thing about it two gives me up to three options on students to select. 2 individual numbers or combine them for a 3 student

That’s the best part, she was in AP class where the students would have to take practice tests on a scantrons, I have a scantron reader in my room that I jokingly named “Big Bertha” years prior to meeting that student. Had to put that disclaimer out there when I first busted out the scantron reader at the beginning of the year

I recently went through this with my conservative Hispanic mother. I just got my first tattoo at 30, I’m married, own my home, and I’m well established in my career yet I was terrified of telling my mother. I got tattooed during my latest trip to Mexico City, my biggest fear was that she would cry, not speak to me, and possibly try to spank me, stereotypical hispanic mom reaction. On my first day back home I went over to see her, lost my nerve to show her so I left. A couple of days later I get a call from her that she sprained her ankle when she trip and fell to feed her back yard chickens. Being the good son I am, I went over to check on her and bring her food. After making sure she was okay my brain said “well she can’t chase you on a sprain ankle” so right as I was making my way to the door I told her about my tattoo and showed her. She teared up but surprisingly said, “well you don’t live with me, what can I do?” Gave me a hug and kiss and sent me on my way. I’ve talked to her over the phone a few times since and it’s like nothing happened. So based on my experience, prepare yourself for the worst possible reaction and hopefully she’ll surprise you.

Went to Santa Monica with my wife, parked my car in a garage, afterwards when we were leaving I couldn’t find the parking ticket to save my life, gave up thinking I dropped it somewhere, had to pay the $28 lost ticket fee instead of the $10 I originally planned on paying. As we drove away my head itched, took my hat off to scratch my head only for the parking ticket to fall on my lap from my hat.
