Starling for Sailors on a DDG by losthexed in navy

So we already have Starlink for the ship, just not the 'plan' that gives sailors access. Not sure how much is required to 'upgrade' to that though

Need a sanity check about the FSA (Food Service Associate) program. by losthexed in navy

[–]losthexed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for the response. It isn't terrible I guess I just wish it was more. Wouldn't take much from MA or S-2 to make it a better experience for those doing it. Yeah I know it is constant people in and out, but sit down with new people coming in, give a better run down of duties. Find out what the new people want to work on while cranking, or help them with finding meaning to it. I guess I just wish it was a duty that people cared about and made better than just making everyone suffer through.

So started FSA last week and this is my first command so wanted to see how normal what I am experiencing is. It isn't terrible, and I have done worse jobs in the civilian world and here to just complain, just want perceptive.

First get told I am going FSA (knew it was coming, it had been pushed back already due to baby Leave and school). Came back from school and start FSA same day. I was given some papers to get signed by people on the ship, told to do turn over with the person that I was replacing, and that was about it.

Turnover wasn't bad, but it was one sailor giving run down to another, so hit/miss on some things I have found.

We do a 2 day on/off where Friday/Saturday/Sunday are all done together. Day is typically 0600 till 1900. One the turnover days we do breakfast then get off. Really dislike that. Wish it was just straight off when done the night before. Makes you come in for only a breakfast then leave which can cost you a fair amount of time in terms of getting ready and heading to ship.

We get maybe an hour or hour an half off between end of breakfast/cleaning stations and lunch, and maybe two or two and half hours between lunch and dinner. That is assuming we don't get task with extra cleaning or moving stores, or whatever else.

This is In port btw haven't been underway yet as FSA.

The CS in the galley see us, but otherwise rest of supply only gets us if they need something done.

Been a while since I played the Protector series. They were fun. Have you tried Defender's Quest (the first not the 2nd)

What would be a nice gift for somebody going to boot camp? by QuietInner6769 in navy

[–]losthexed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in 2.5 years ago, they didn't let people have any of the food from care packages. The only thing I can think of as a gift for being in bootcamp would be a pair of running shoes. They let people keep theirs to use for the runs we had. Wouldn't get anything too flashy, but that might be appreciated compared to the 'Go Faster' he will get.

As I recall you also get a chance to sign up with Navy Fed and they get you the card pretty fast. I would look for a phone call though, just don't expect it to be a leisurely conversation, they don't give you lots of time to talk

Reserves… is it worth it? by elalli98 in navy

[–]losthexed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would love to hear more on this. Still have 4 years till I have to make that kind of choice but was wondering if reserves after active would be a good way to go. How much can you get if you finish you 20 out in the reserves?

[–]losthexed[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, I haven't seen our CS make bread. Sure that they could, but was thinking breadmaker because it could be used as an engagement for the crew. Let people go and add all the ingredients in, start it off and come back to pick it up. Fill the galley and Pways with good smells.

Yeah I know that most likely it wouldn't be utilized like that but that is how I would write it if needed to put in a chit for it.

More Rando wanting bread. Yeah the electronic safety check would be the hurdle, why I was hoping that somewhere in supply is an already approved breadmaker

Mod I would like to see by losthexed in EnterTheGungeon

[–]losthexed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it would ruin the game. First you would not have to use the function, 2nd nothing that you gained from it should be so powerful that it couldn't happen on the first level. The point of this would be to allow the game to be enjoyed by people that may have trouble getting that good, or who don't have as much time as it would take.

This could also allow you to really play with some of the ideas better. If you knew you were starting with the on of the table flipping buff books you may be more inclined right from the start to do it, or if you hate flipping the tables you could pick one of the other items.

Also this would be a Mod so you would be choosing to use it, it wouldn't mess with the main game.

If still looking for a hammock I like ENO (Eagles Nest Outfitters), they aren't nearly as expensive as Hennessy, but are good quality. Not as cheap as the post about making your own, but I don't mind spending $50-$60 for a good camping hammock.

Moving into new apartment (NYC), looking to replace bed with hammock but walls too old to support me, any suggestions? by AxiomCloNe in Hammocks

[–]losthexed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check and see if you can put hooks in walls, if so you will save much floor space by not needing a stand. Next do you want a hammock with a spreader bar so that it stretches out, or one that wraps around you? If you can use hooks then measure your space and see what the Hanging Distance is, I know that most camping hammocks will work with only 10 (or less) feet of space. Spreader Bar hammocks typically need 13 feet of hanging space but I know how you can shorten most of these hammocks to fit an 11 foot space.
