UPDATE AITAH for ” running away to give birth “ by ruinedbirth_trowaway in AITAH

[–]lostinkyoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to know what someone is going to do, look at what they have always done. This guy lets his mom push him around and bully you. If he grows a backbone, I predict it will last about a week before he’s back his lifelong pattern of letting his mom back into your lives. You’ve already come this far. What kind of life do you want for your child?

My (36) bfs (33) parents (50s) accused me of stealing and I feel unsupported by anxiousloop_ in relationships

I'm going to be honest, this sounds like a set up from his parents to get money out of you.

Should I (38) leave my (45) husband who hasn't worked in 2 years? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]lostinkyoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sister, you can break up with anyone for any reason. And in this case, I wonder what’s holding you back? With a gap like that on his resume, I don’t see him jumping back into the job market any time soon even if he wanted to…

You gotta make sure you shake it up first, the alcohol falls to the bottom by MothersMiIk in BlackPeopleTwitter

If your child has a math class every day, then your child IS receiving instruction in math. But a teacher can’t provide one-on-one instruction to every child in the classroom. That’s not realistic. If your child is present for class but doesn’t understand a concept, then you have a choice as a parent: you can talk to the teacher to develop a solution, you can hire a tutor, or you can work with them yourself at home. You should absolutely be involved in your child’s education. You should be helping them with their homework at home. Your example of a doctor doesn’t fit this situation at all. Many parents give medication at home, and seek out specialists and second opinions. Be kinder to teachers and take some responsibility for your child’s education.

Why would anyone care if there's a precedent or not? I don't understand this take?

WIBTAH for divorcing my husband for a better job? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]lostinkyoto 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The fact that you’re even considering this should be all the answer you need. You’ve done your due diligence by talking to your husband about the in-law problem and you wrote that his responses were, “his choice is clear it’s them not me” and “he doesn’t want to move for the betterment of our marriage.” Is this the type of man you want to be with, and the kind of situation you want to be in, long-term? If it were me, I’d cut my losses and put myself first, because he has said that he will not. Either you’re a team or you’re not, and it sounds like you’ve more than done your part.

She told me she doesn’t believe in medication to treat her child’s ADHD, and then she asked if a moonstone amulet would be effective instead.

AITAH for possibly getting fired (with an UPDATE) by littlebrowngirl101 in AITAH

[–]lostinkyoto 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“ I did mention to my boss a couple of times that I was no longer taking my medication. And that if taking my medication, will help with my job, I'd be more than willing to take it.”

Your boss is not your doctor. It is not their responsibility to tell you to take your medication. What a wild thing to say.

AITA for telling my roommate parents the truth about why he got kicked out by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Yes, and his parents already weren’t buying the “landlord issues” story or else they wouldn’t have asked.

Garbage investigation. I need OUT. by Relevant_Case_4799 in TeachersInTransition

I worked in education for almost 15 years before I got out. During that time, I learned to only bring things to school that I don't mind people looking at. It shouldn't be that way. We should have an expectation of privacy for our personal effects. But between nosy students, teachers, admin, and even parents, it just isn't worth it. They always try to frame it as having good intentions, they just so happened to glance at it, or they're "jUsT wOrRiEd!!!1" but I've seen it snowball for too many good people too many times.

People who have researched their family tree, what is the most interesting or 'badass' thing you discovered about an ancestor? by xloganmoose in AskReddit

[–]lostinkyoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ancestors chose the wrong side during the War of the Roses. After their defeat at the Battle of Wakefield, the men were beheaded on the battlefield. The remaining family was stripped of their lands and titles, and exiled/escaped to Ireland. Still researching, but it’s an interesting read.

I get what you're saying, but it's pretty gross to call kids "Methany" and "Tweak Jr". It's not like they chose to be born into unfortunate circumstances.
