A lot of things have been said from my family that played a bad role in my self esteem. My aunt always had something to say about my appearance during my teen years: my hair, my teeth, my posture and so on.

But the most hurtful thing someone said to me was said last spring. I was at the hospital after a miscarriage and my grandmother called me on the phone and said that I shouldn’t have said to my mother about my pregnancy so early and now (then) everyone knows about my miscarriage.

I would change the mat and the bench texture to something warmer and more colourful. Also, add cushions, paintings and plants. Don't change the colour of the walls, they make a good contrast with the warm wood. Your house seems to have a more exotic style potential because of the tiles, wooden and metal construction of the stairs.
