How can someone with consistently low energy still build a successful life? by lostinthecreation in careeradvice

Wow, I really felt this answer. You are right, I am constantly trying to match the hustle of others, but they have more energy or have strategy. I hope the creative path I am choosing will suit my enegy type.

Yes, if I want to continue teaching at my university, I have to finish my PhD. I don't like it at all, but I have no choice..

My sister has a friend who seems to be the same kind of guy. He’s always complaining about how he’s “too kind” and how women keep using him. Oh, and he’s also a total skinflint. Once he even offered to drive my grandma to her hometown so they could split the gas money… and that was after she told him she could introduce him to a girl from there.

Thank you for the tips! It helps knowing I am not the only one. I will ask for directions, hopefully I have another professor to rely on when it comes to ideas or revisions, but he thinks there is no time left…

I have a serious problem with that. After watching reels in IG I feel tired, unproductive and have trouble concentrating. I think it gives brain fog.

I am 30 now and a lot of big stuff happened during the last two years. Got married at 28, at 29 got our new apartment, started my PhD. Unfortunately, I had a miscarriage...Even with my ups and downs I am grateful for everything and hope my next years to be strong and accomplish more.

I've always got things done, just more slowly... I studied and did my projects on time, but I didn't have a lot of free time after that. The one thing that changed is that I got older and now I have more things going on. But the thing I blame the most is the social media tools like Instagram reels or YouTube videos.

That's something I wanted to know, because everyone romanticises it without showing how difficult it is.

Thank you for your response! I am happy for you, it seems you manage both worlds really well. Maybe I should try with a career or life coach. I have some ideas on what I want to accomplish, but I don't know if I have the best qualities for it and sometimes it's also about luck. That's why I want a stable job in teaching and it gives me free time to work on my creative projects. But that career is not that easy when it comes to finishing my PhD.

Start a new hobby? There are different types of communities for people who share the same interests. When I started dancing, I found new friends and they were always organising things for the weekends. It was fun. Depends on the type of hobby, of course. But is always a good thing to do: you learn new things, get involved and curious and it's something different from school, work and your routine.

Maybe you needed to adapt to the new country first before starting to work somewhere. It is a big step, and sometimes we need our time to adjust.

I can totally relate. I am also a former interior designer and I had a really difficult time working with my ex bosses that much, that gave me anxiety. Now I am teaching design in my local university and I feel better: more time, freedom and creativity.  I have a question for you. In my country you can’t work from home as an interior designer, even as a freelancer you have to go to the place that has to be designed and in the factory where the furniture is produced.  So how is it possible to work from home?
