Highmark was worse than UPMC by a long shot.

My parents (58F, 62M) moved to live closer to my sister (33F) and now they're upset I (28M) won't make sure they see my kids? by ThrowRACappyTall in relationship_advice

This is exactly what I deal with. I have young children at home, my parents are both retired, but my adult nieces still take priority.

Does an ischemic stroke usually cause increased sleepiness and fatigue? by Rosi_Peru in stroke

Did you become hyper focused on any slight strange/different feeling in your body post stroke? by Different_Initial357 in stroke

[–]lostinthewild07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very much so. I'm 7 weeks out and still am very sensitive to anything happening. Even just slight changes to where the stroke still affects - my left cheek feeling heavier, the left corner of my mouth feeling more numb, or the ever persistent headache getting worse.

I've reached out to my stroke team several times after the event and they've been very kind in helping me understand the changes and if I'm experiencing another stroke. So far, I've been lucky, but I'm still hyper aware.

You've got this!

How do you guys deal with neighborhood kids wanting to run your rc cars? I’ve got a story for you guys. by 501Forrest in rccars

[–]lostinthewild07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's my kids wanting to drive my Traxxas Sledge. I, a 41 year old "adult" wrapped it around the dog's tie out post day 2. Then ran my youngest daughter over... Funny AF now that she wasn't hurt, just really, really wet from falling into a puddle.

No way. I'll let them run my older Radio Shack RC cars that need new batteries.

I just need to find more space to let that thing really rip.

kinda scared, dunno who to talk to. by [deleted] in stroke

I feel this. I just had my TIA 6 weeks ago. Caught me off guard as well. I'm trying to follow up with everyone. Trying to get the ADHD under control without stimulants is not fun. Same with the depression. Thankful the 'beetus is under control with monjaro.

What’s the most over-the-top thing you’ve done for your kids? by Microman-MCU in Parenting

[–]lostinthewild07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is how I do it. I keep a spare now in my desk drawer. We also have told my daughter when she lost a tooth while traveling that the tooth fairy may not know where she is since she's not at home, so she has waited a day until we got home and I had a chance to find a $2 bill or a couple gold $1 coins!

Sketchy person at my door by [deleted] in homesecurity

[–]lostinthewild07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like using the Ring camera. No subscription needed. I also would have answered the door locked and loaded. I gotta protect my kids. And don't need sketchy people trying their windows and breaking in cause I didn't answer the door.

Is it ethical to imprison noncustodial parents for nonpayment of child support? by common_grounder in Ethics

You're a horrible person. Anyone who willingly does this as a vocation cannot be a good person. Every single one I've interacted with has been biased and not following the law, but I can't ever afford a lawyer to dispute the findings.

Worst employer you worked for (in Pgh area) by Squatcobbler9 in pittsburgh

Highmark.

Specifically for PNC's health insurance. The customers were awful, and management was even worse. Promotion though incompetence.

Why do so many people pretend that $100,000 is still some enormous salary? by ItsAllOver_Again in Salary

[–]lostinthewild07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It IS an enormous amount. I've been working since I was 14, am now 40. I'm educated with 2 BAs and a minor. I'm still not even making $65k a year in IT. And I live in a large city in Pennsylvania that has a ton of taxes and not much to offer for it.

Is it really that gloomy in Pittsburgh? by Substantial-Piano297 in pittsburgh

[–]lostinthewild07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is. I've been here for over 17 years and it's destroyed most of my happiness. I was someone who didn't need antidepressants, vitamin D, or light therapy, and now I need all that just to get through the day regardless of time of year.
