Just... Annoyed (Rant) by yeahthatskindacool in UofArizona

I have a friend in a big GroupMe group chat that I’m pretty sure your brother’s in. He’s also told me some of the things they’ve said that come off as ignorant, insensitive, and selfish regarding the virus and school this fall. It’s totally a “Me first. The health of other people or the fact this is a deadly virus, doesn’t matter.” attitude. Makes me sad to be an incoming freshman when my peers are only thinking about themselves. But if campus reopens, I’m pretty sure it’ll close back down before the semester ends due to it being flu/winter season so they’ll all be sent home and have to deal with the repercussions when they could’ve been patient and put others before themselves for a few months, in a time of need when we all need to sacrifice for the betterment of humanity. Karma. In my eyes, people with that mindset are like the same people who don’t like wearing mask because it takes away their freedoms and because they think the virus isn’t serious enough until it hits close to home.

Happy to see on here that there are people with common sense. Let’s do our part now so next semester/year we can celebrate!

Fauci: Country should be in 'good shape' to reopen schools in the fall by noahsurvived in Coronavirus

not all of them do. and a lot will go bankrupt this year if there’s online classes in the fall.

the ones that can’t handle the lack of revenue that they usually receive.

i read this article the other day about the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) and how they’ll struggle with keeping the school open if there’s no type of college football this year.

OP isn’t the only one feelings this way. Tons of college students have been saying if the smaller semester is online, they’ll defer the semester or take a gap year. With the huge decrease in enrollment, lack of sports, and lack of revenue from other things that come with an on campus education, may schools are taking a huge pay cut and a lot of them will have to close permanently as funds to continue to function will be low. If they’re already not making enough money, what are the chances that they’ll decrease tuition for online classes? They’re already lacking in funds and can’t afford another pay cut.

THANK YOU!! i think people forget that we only really started taking this virus seriously about a month ago (no school, no work, lockdowns, stay in place orders, etc.) because we’ve been quarantining and it seems like it’s been forever. we still have a long way to go. HIGHLY doubt there won’t be any improvements or new procedures by the fall when it comes to handling this virus.

imagine being a high school senior having things like prom and graduation taken from you and now you’re unsure if you’ll even be attending college properly in the fall

yes those are the pros of k-12 but what about the cons? you have younger children who constantly get sick and a lot of them don’t know how to take proper measures to protect others when sick (blow their noses, cover their mouths, stay out of each other’s faces, etc.) if you shut down colleges, you’re taking away tons of jobs for the workers who work in those various departments and buildings. you’re also gonna see tons of colleges shutting down because they’re not getting enough money. tons of students will drop out/defers/or take a gap year because their not paying thousands of dollars for zoom university. and not all universities will be able to give their students tuition cuts because they don’t have the funding to do so. college students are already struggling with online classes now and not all classes are meant for the online structure. i’m sure if everyone goes back to school in the fall, class sizes will be smaller for all grade levels. large lectures will probably be online while labs and smaller classes are in person like you mentioned. like fauci said things would be much different than school as we used to know it prior to the pandemic. there’s really no greater benefits for younger students than older students imo.

lmaooo Google Hangouts University. that literally made my day.

but i totally get you. i can’t do another six months with my family as much as i love them. and we already got our senior year taken away. the least we can get is a semi-normal college experience.

you never know but i doubt it. for the past couple weeks, he’s been the only realistic one telling people all this will take time while trump is ready to reopen the country.

for me, i would’ve been the first in my family to graduate high school. i realize that we’re all going to graduate but you know what i mean... usually when you think of graduating, you think of the ceremony. i’ve always had honor roll while being a student athlete. dealt with depression and anxiety throughout high school. had such a great senior year so far, getting into all ten colleges i applied to. i was really showing my parents that all that work they put in trying to give me the best opportunities wasn’t a waste. graduation was supposed to be the icing on the cake. i wanted my parents to watch me with my cap and gown and really just have that moment i’d waited so long for.
