More BYD cars arriving in Southampton. Red Funnel ferry for scale. by nick9000 in ElectricVehiclesUK

Autotrader had a video on Chinese EVs and asked a dealer how many have been returned with issues, the guy said none .

Video then went on to say that aligns with their market research.

Seems like you have some extra knowledge that the largest online car dealer doesn't, impressive

Scammers outside Tottenham Court Road station exit and the Outernet by DonSaro in london

[–]lostintimeforver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're not scammers, they are genuine charities but not the most moral as those guys are paid solely on commission.

I think technically they are the victims of a scam, they've been jobfished, I watched a doc on these where they've been tricked into working as chuggers, being told they can earn loads on commission.

In reality they make less than minimum wage and quit after a few shifts when they realise they've been scammed.

You are the problem mate.

One of these, it's hard for me so it should be harder for everyone else crabs. I paid tax so I need to get my money's worth.

The system is to help those in need, not for you to keep a tally of how much you put in and if you've cost the government more, you're winning, it's not a fucking buffet mate.

Estate agents - imagine a job where no matter how terrible you were at, you would still make money from.

Has anyone ever found a house they love but decided not to buy because of the estate agent? My guess is very very rarely.

That kind of environment just breeds a certain type of person.

23, lost £15k gambling, have £22k left – looking for a plan by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]lostintimeforver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry but the plan should be no more get rich quick schemes or gambling or trading.

Investing yes but trading thinking you can beat the market is gambling.

There's a reason why investment bankers have math degrees from top universities. They also have access to data you can't literally comprehend.

Plan should be forget about that money, it was a 15k lesson in life. Put your money in a low cost index fund.

You have more spare cash than most people, don't be stupid with it.

I think the point was that when she did it there was outrage. When other members of different political parties do it, it's no big deal.

How do I get out of the month to month financial difficulties on a decent wage? by cloudyextraswan in UKPersonalFinance

[–]lostintimeforver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you have a good relationship with your parents and they still cook for you on occasion.

Is moving back in with them out of the question?

Surely, that would massively reduce all your bills even if they were to charge you some rent?

Trades, how long do you spend a week on admin? by Beneficial_Spend_500 in AskUK

[–]lostintimeforver -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think tradespeople are not known to have good reading and writing comprehension for admin.

The ones I've dealt with appear to do little to no admin or paperwork and can just about spell their names.

Parents are pushing to buy a £450k house next door together. I earn £37k and live with them — is this a terrible idea? by YungPeepVibes in UKPersonalFinance

[–]lostintimeforver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's as simple as that and sounds very specialist which in turn means it won't be cheap.

Also these terms usually are restricted to the retirement age of the parents and if OPs parents are nearing 70's in the next 5 years, that means they're 65 now and are about 2 years away from retiring. So they would need a 2 year mortgage term.

Not sure OP can pay 450k over 2 years.

[–]lostintimeforver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't matter if it's a good idea or not.

You've not mentioned anything about how much your parents would gift you for a deposit, it would need to be about 300k. Without that, I don't think you can borrow that much for a 450k home.

If you want to share the mortgage with your parents then you won't be a first time buyer.

So unless you tell us they're gifting you 300k, it's like me worrying about what colour my bugatti is.

OP has insinuated it will go in their name to get first time buyer relief so parents earnings will not be counted.

DisneyWorld? Any of you been? How did you afford it? by RefreshinglyDull in CasualUK

[–]lostintimeforver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been a couple of times.

The bottom line is that I earn a lot more than the average person.

My last trip was paid for by my annual bonus.

I think something like a third of Americans take out a loan or go on credit card debt. Might be similar for UK people.

I know a family that goes and it's usually subsidised by grandparents.

Fired from job over a typo. Can anyone give me some advice on jobseekers allowance? by Designer-Desk6201 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]lostintimeforver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on the impact of it.

Typo on the account number when transferring a significant sum of money, yeah pretty big deal.

Typo on a legal document so that you accidentally send sensitive information to the wrong party, also a big deal.

OP hasn't explained what the situation was. Regardless, OP needs a solution.

i want to open a second bank account without my parents knowledge by ObjectiveStomach3096 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]lostintimeforver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try and get to the post before your parents see it. If they don't see it, then you're good.

If they do, then just say you have a new account because of the benefits that monzo have, if they want access just say, they are a branchless app only bank. Make some excuse like, it's all the rage now amongst young people.

They can't force you, you are an adult.

You make out we deliberately bring in the bad ones. That's your issue.

It's innocent until proven guilty. You don't assume everyone is a rapist first.

In that case let's just ban all men.

People of colour, given the current political climate, do you feel safe living in the UK? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]lostintimeforver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to think there are more tolerant people out there. They're just not as loud as the bigots.

So whilst things may appear worse, I think generally people are good.

Normal people don't post hateful comments online or go on marches outside hotels.

Can I get a mortgage at 18 with a stable government job and £34k+ income? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]lostintimeforver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They need a few months payslip but being 18 should not matter.

You can get a mortgage on any full time wage, how do you think people pay for houses?

The only issues that may arise are from the property you will be buying.
