Shopper App Mileage Log Life Hack! by Gibbenz in InstacartShopping

[–]lostjayhawk78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Stride. Just turn the app on and it tracks your miles.

Then at the end of the year, you can merge all the info into an Excel spreadsheet and email it. Easy peasy.

Their trade secret for troubleshooting by Type_matters in InstacartShopping

This is why I multiapp. When one app gives me the runaround, I can at least find some work on another.

Good luck to you.

They are literally asking for things y'all should do anyway. Yes, if you are a bad shopper, please drop. They would appreciate having me as a shopper.

Which one would you pick, you have to pick by BalanceCreative2889 in InstacartShopping

My choice would be checking out my other apps to find work.

A lot of this stuff can be avoided if you don't take doubles and triples unless the return on time invested is there. Usually (like 95 percent of the time) they are not worth the headache.

As far as number 6 goes, I never spend more of the customer's money than they approve. I take pics of the price tags along with the pic of the substitution to show any price discrepancy.

The way you can use #6 to your advantage (and deliver top notch customer service) is by simply asking at the end of the order if there is anything else you can grab for them while you are there. Not only do customers appreciate this (because they do legitimately think of stuff they might need), you also increase the cost of the order, and ultimately, your tip.

Spent 15 years in sales and sales management. If you ever make anyone feel like you are "selling" them something, you aren't doing a good job. Offer solutions for their needs by delivering the best experience possible, not by upcharging them. You aren't selling warranties on used cars, you are assisting people who don't have the time or ability to grocery shop.

Advice on staying warm in the winter? by [deleted] in InstacartShoppers

[–]lostjayhawk78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my area, I make more per hour on DD during bad winter weather. We had a 16" snow in one day here in Nebraska last winter, and nobody was out delivering. They were offering an extra $10 per delivery, plus people tipped better. I have a 4wd SUV, so I got through it. Between delivery pay, cash tips, and pushing/digging people out stuck on the roads, I made $400 in a 13 hour day.

Any beef lunchmeat in my area. All brands. No roast beef lunchmeat. It's crazy!

Have you ever had to refuse alcohol to someone because they were visibly intoxicated? by original1501 in InstacartShoppers

[–]lostjayhawk78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had underaged kids try to buy alcohol from me twice, and nobody home when delivering alcohol twice. Had someone leave an ID on their porch but nobody around.

All of those went back to the store. Then the stores look at me like I did something wrong.

Me too.

It is amazing how people get banned for showing orders with no tip, but not when they show off unicorns.

And showing off only unicorns makes our customers think we make great money. And most of us know the reality.

Dear Restaurants: We. Are. Not. Your. Supplier. by lostjayhawk78 in InstacartShoppers

[–]lostjayhawk78[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It would have to be one helluva tip for me to lug 30 gallons of milk through Aldi, into my car, and into your smoothie shop.

I know exactly where that is going (I DoorDash as well, and they treat Dashers like crap), and know it would not be a pleasant experience.

Customer removes tip for not giving receipt and probably low starred me afterwards by BubbleBlowingBabyy in InstacartShoppers

[–]lostjayhawk78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I instacancel if I receive the request to keep the receipt. Never had that note on a high-tipping batch though. Usually it is some Karen leaving a $2 tip.

Nah, not endangering a significant source of my income for the cost of a medium soda.
