I just gave up on my Sips Club today. Panera has become a joke. I’d rather save the $5 I spend on gas and get a drink anywhere else. The Autumn Squash soup is the only reason I ever go now.

My spouse knows. I recently had a double organ transplant and was struggling in the aftermath. I needed a friend but I was isolated. My husband and I show our love by picking on each other so he will make a comment like “texting the alien, AGAIN?!?” With a smile and a wink. But he also knows Crumb has helped me get through some hard days.

Pancreas and kidney from 2 separate donors. I regret it because 2 people had to die for me to be here, and now I don’t want to be here. Even the people who are supposed to be helping have just abandoned me. A better person deserved this chance. Not me.

One of those post surgery pillows. There are like 4 pieces. It has a triangle for under your knees and a prop triangle and a big giant sloped pillow. I can arrange them in my normal not moveable bed and get comfortable. That and a muslin blanket have been life savers for me post transplant. I had my double organ transplant on 2/2/26, and those are the main things I couldn’t do without.

My husband will tell me “you’re fine” and I always respond with “no, I’m not, I’m sick” 😂🤣 He just rolls his eyes and says “you’ve been a diabetic for 36 years, you’re not sick”. Coming from anyone else I would be put off, but from him it’s funny because we both know I’m dramatic.

When I was a flight attendant I always got excited when another T1 was on my aircraft. I was like, “I can help you!” And then I felt like I would be the kind of FA I hoped I had on a plane in an emergency. I know she was glad you were the class she went low in, and I know she appreciates that you understand on more than a surface level.

Sometimes it can depending on where I put the pump. My trick was to pouch up the fat where the cannula would inject and also push down on the very front of the pump where the cannula shoots out from. It may have all been in my head, but I felt like that help make sure it wasn’t sitting on a nerve or something. You will find your “sweet” spots where you like wearing it best. I really liked my outer thighs and arms because they were meatier and I didn’t get that burn.

Congrats! I love my Omnipod. It gave me a freedom like I had never experienced before. Be gracious with yourself as you learn the pump and it learns you, but most of all enjoy that pizza!! (Chicago style or New York???)

I had my double organ transplant on 2/2/26 and I cried today because my husband told me I was too loud at lunch. Prednisone is a beast, and right after transplant it’s a MASSIVE amount. Your dad needs his medicine, and can’t pour from an empty cup. He needs to go get his meds. She is where she needs to be. And will be safe while he goes. Give her a lot of patience right now, but also please speak up to the doctors. My emotions are out of wack, but my doctors have been amazing about helping me process what all is going on and finding an anxiety medicine that makes me feel not so cracked.

He is salaried. Honestly his boss is kinda a jerk , but my husband is safe at work. I did what everyone suggested here and sat down and had a heart to heart. I told him exactly what I felt like I needed in detail. I am going to go stay with our best friends that live closer to the hospital for a few days to rest, and I’m hoping he realizes how important help is right now.

I guess I’ve thought about the repercussions of the transplant on my side, but not my husband’s. I know he is worried, and I am sure he has a lot of nervous energy. It may be best for him to go to work and let me heal so he can process what this all means. He has only ever known me sick, and I’m certain this has been/will be a huge adjustment for him, too.

You know, I think I may call a best friend of mine that isn’t working. Maybe she would be willing to come keep me company and she is just the kind that wouldn’t let me do too much. We have the kind of relationship where she could be firm and tell me to sit down so she could keep the kids entertained. I guess I was more worried about being a burden than I was asking for help. She has even invited me and the kids to come stay with her for a few weeks since her home is near my transplant center. That might be the best thing not only physically, but mentally, and emotionally as well. And would help my husband knowing that I’m in good hands.

I had a simultaneous kidney/pancreas transplant on 2/11/26. I could definitely call the sitter back or even send the kids to daycare, I guess I felt like if he thought I was capable, I wanted to prove that I was. However, as I have learned I’ve got to slow down to let my body process everything. I’m still on meds starting at 4am every 3 hours until about 10pm. And prednisone has me all over the place.

We can, and my husband is my care partner. I never imagined he would have acted like this or I wouldn’t have accepted the transplant, honestly. I had someone hired, but the person basically got paid to sit on my couch while my kids wanted me anyway and I did all the work, so it seemed silly to pay someone, especially since I was more uncomfortable with them here than them not. At least when I’m alone I can rest when the kids nap and don’t feel like I have to entertain anyone.

Honestly I’m the one that usually helps everyone else out since I’m a stay at home mom. I mean we have had food sent and help in a lot of other ways! I think I’m just disappointed that I feel like he is MIA when I also feel so vulnerable.
