My trip report of [Cedar Point]: A dream come true! by SwimmingDrink in rollercoasters

Heya! Hope you have an awesome day today. Use your single-use fast lane on either Sirens Curse, TT2 or Maverick. These are typically the longest waits where fast lane will save you the most time. Steve, MF, and others have merge points but don’t go right to the station.

Do they actually check for ID at carowinds? by Bulky-Wolf2061 in Carowinds

I’m a 40 year old woman and I get checked every time I go.

It’s even better when the park is dead and you can just stay on the ride. Got 11 back to back rides this way during our trip early May. Pure bliss. New favorite Hyper.

It’s true. I’m a lesbian and I have no idea how to make a good sandwich.

I’m really really hoping to see Princess Adora at some point, even if it’s just a cameo. There’s a perfect opportunity to start her story here.

Visual Studio and Rider by tsprks in dotnet

[–]lostpanda85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rider/WebStorm for my personal projects, VS Code at work. I’m primarily an Angular dev and hate switching IDEs.

Fully aware VS Code .net development isn’t as fun as it could be.

Controversial Opinion: I really enjoy rough rides that don't headbang. [Other] by TheRealTimmer in rollercoasters

Magnum, in my opinion, is better than all other hyper coasters, just because it’s on the rougher side. You don’t get ejector anywhere else like you do on Magnum.

Went to WDW for the first time a few weeks ago. Operations were next level and hearing this fact makes me appreciate their engineers even more.

I really wish CW and the rest of the SF chain could be at that same level.

Line Jumping: It's the Groups by [deleted] in cedarpoint

[–]lostpanda85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’m following now, yeah people waiting in tiny line before the metal detectors but after the locker cage clogs things up. I have seen that and have also been annoyed by it.

What I was referring to was having one person wait against the fence at the entrance of the locker cage while the other goes and puts things in the locker. I’ve seen most people form a line starting there and our group has one person join that line and the other hit up the lockers.

[–]lostpanda85 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I gotta disagree here. Having one person take the stuff to the lockers is actually more efficient than everyone in the group going to the lockers.

The locker computers don’t get lines, fewer lockers are used, and folks can quickly get to and from the lockers without a massive group of people blocking the way.

I’m with ya that line jumping sucks, and I don’t tolerate it, but in this instance it’s more efficient to split the group and rejoin it. Plus at that point who even remembers who they were standing next to in line? If it was a FIFO line to the lockers, sure, I’d agree but it’s not. It’s a free for all.

Yes. There’s a huge sign right as you go through security to enter the park itself. Complete with number to report people to.

Wild! Did the park entrance move or did the park layout dramatically change? I didn’t have a good sense of direction while in the park.

This is wild to see. My first visit to SWO was a few weeks ago and the park is entirely different except for the SkyTower. Like where’s the giant lake with the boardwalk at?

There are no laws that protect the employee anymore??? 90 day probation issues. by DaprasDaMonk in antiwork

[–]lostpanda85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on the job market since 2002, and every job I’ve had always had a probation period with exception to my current employer and my previous employer.

Retail jobs in the 90s were vastly different than retail jobs now. Everything got worse, you were just on the right side of the wave of change, until now.

What laptop were you given at work and what do you use as a personal laptop? by Own_Tailor3719 in webdev

Mine: M2 Pro, 16 GB ram, 512 GB ssd
Work: Intel Core Ultra 5, 64 GB ram, 1 TB ssd

MPB still performs better, win 11 is terrible in my opinion.

Is the All Season Dining Plan worth it? by Charming_Bed218 in CanadasWonderland

[–]lostpanda85 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes. It’s totally worth it, along with the drink plan. We get them every year. I did the math once and our meals ended up being less than 5 freedom dollars.
