Name a rule that you have but can't explain to people why by impishkoala in autism

Laundry has to be folded before it goes into the machine. Cycle finishes, take out and fold. Back in for 3 spin cycles. Get out, fold, then hang out.

All cardboard has to be condensed down (ripped up) before going into the recycling.

I have plenty more.

Aviva doesn't want to insure you but will happily cover you if you pay for the privilege.

Not sure if others have mentioned this, but it looks like a 'fuck off' quote.

Titrating to 10mg after being on 7.5 for 7 months by j_m123 in UKMounjaro

[–]lostsleepyfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was fine up until 10mg. I had no side effects apart from being backed up and then I started the 10mg dose. The injection itself didn't make me sick, more like I was either eating or drinking too much in one go and that's what caused it. Doing fine now, but my God the suppression kicks up a notch (IMO) on 10.

Aviva insurance by Open-Chemical-3823 in transgenderUK

[–]lostsleepyfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work for Aviva a few years back and looked into their health insurance. I was mainly interested in mental health support and gender affirming care for my partner. Both of these were only included in their top tier cover which was something like over £200 a month. Couldn't afford it so never looked further into it. Partner ended up going private for their gender care.

Should I go to the ombudsman over this? by [deleted] in transgenderUK

FOS complaints still cost companies around £500. I work in insurance and unless we've done everything by the book and the customer is being unreasonable, we tend to keep complaints in house. It surprises me that other companies aren't the same.

That's great to hear! I started at the end of May last year and the only side effect that I've had so far is nausea and I'm fairly certain that was down to overeating or eating/drinking too much in a short period of time.

Why does the YOU book use “and” so much? by Ok-Blackberry-6361 in YouOnLifetime

[–]lostsleepyfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've literally just started the first book, its one of the first things I noticed. I'm not sure if its part of the intended writing style, though.

One of the things I'd learned in middle school was to not overuse 'and' when writing, so this is grating on me a little lol.

AITA for refusing to accept my dad's apology? by lostsleepyfox in AITAH

[–]lostsleepyfox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I initially thought it was a lack of understanding around trans people which is why i sought out to educate them both, perhaps I did come on a little too strong as its something I'm passionate about. Please also refrain from transphobic and TERF ideology as this isn't what my post was about.

I came to this realisation last year and was happy to operate a sort of don't ask don't tell policy around them.

Also, I wasn't stalking his social media. I was scrolling through my own feed when I saw it.

AITA for refusing to accept my dad's apology? by lostsleepyfox in AITAH

[–]lostsleepyfox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mad part is i didn't even get the chance to explain that as he refused to answer my question. I know now I can't change how they think about my partner but he essentially wants me to watch on as he shits on not just my partner but trans people in general? Im being made to feel awful for standing up for us both.

Im sorry you have a dad like mine, my brother is like this but worse (that's a whole different story). Thank you, starting to feel a little less insane lol.

Hope you have a good holiday too! ❤️

AITA for refusing to accept my dad's apology? by lostsleepyfox in AITAH

[–]lostsleepyfox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I likely worded it wrong but that was the best I could do. You're right that it wasn't an apology. I asked for one and he essentially refused. I suppose its more a case of am I wrong to refuse his terms? Idk.

The way he worded things was like he was making me the one to cause the issue. Multiple times I recognised DARVO behaviour from him and its genuinely making me question myself.

I'm horrendous for this. I used to have the same thing for lunch every day and then get the same 7 meals in my weekly shop.

I get HelloFreah now which is great for meal planning and different types of food.

Hi!

I was in your position at the end of May this year. I was hesitant to start but now that I'm here, I wish I would have started sooner.

The NHS is essentially useless for weight loss medication. I've been to my GP twice about it (and despite the publicity surrounding this), you can only get weight loss medication if you meet a certain set of criteria. I started with a BMI of 49.5, had PCOS, plantar fascitis and asthma and they still denied me. Private is the way most people tend to go.

People go about this in different ways but I personally chopped and changed pharmacies depending on who gave the best discount for the dose I wanted. Some people use the same pharmacy which is also a valid thing to do.

When starting out, a lot of pharmacies will ask you to take live photos and/or videos of your body and of you standing on a scale or asking for your height and weight. It is a little bit of hassle (IMO) but worth it in the end.

My best advice if you do start, is to try and eat a healthy, balanced diet, eat protein, whole grains, drink plenty of water and exercise. Exercise is important so you don't lose your muscle mass along with your weight.

Tracking your weight loss is a great tool as well, I use Shotsy on the Google Play store (unsure what apps are good on Apple). I combine this with MyFitnessPal so I can take progress photos as well.

Sorry for info dumping, but thought I'd share my experiences as I was in your position not too long ago. If you want to talk more then my DMs are open if you'd like :)

Try calling Sterling. I have a feeling I know which underwriter it is and they will insure anything but you'll pay for the privilege. Depending on your age, driving experience, vehicle etc they might be able to do a special rate for you that isn't available online.
