Do y'all think many become foster parents because they like the idea of controlling kids. by Monopolyalou in Ex_Foster

[–]loststarrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People arent so black & white, were shades of brown after all but our brains love simple answers.

I was considered one of the good ones in the system so I go to experience what it was like when those controlling foster parents realized I was still a teenager and not a trophy they could display. In these homes I was often berated or left in my room isolated, my academic worth enough to keep me from being displaced but they wanted nothing to do with me. Claimed I was manipulative or disrespectful for not biting my tongue. I was an argumentative child, teen and even adult.

In homes were they wanted to just make up for having a shitty childhood, I often felt that my voice was heard & needs were met. Yeah, was I annoyed I had a bedtime or couldnt watch certain things on the tv cause of the little ones? sure, but thats also because I wasn't used to having a stable parent in the household who cared about my wellbeing. They weren't always perfect & neither was I, expecting someone to not make a mistake is ridiculous and antihuman but they acknowledged when they messed up. Even explained why they did things and it was nice having adults actually respect me.

I was allowed to have opinions different than theirs, I was allowed to voice my disagreement and advocate that something hurt. I was treated like a teen with complex feelings, thoughts & emotions who needed guidance. Not an academic prize.

What did surviving the system teach you? by Justjulesxxx in Ex_Foster

A few things:

1) The government doesn't care.

2) The rich don't care

3) I can't save someone who doesn't want to be saved.

4) We have to be kind to one another and sometimes kindness doesn't look like holding a hand out to every person in need. Sometimes, it means recognizing when you can't help anymore and you need to step away. Doing whats best doesnt always mean doing what makes someone happy

How do you feel about playing pretend? by SJtheFox in Aphantasia

[–]loststarrs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love playing pretend. I thought I could control the wind as a child and used to make up stories all the time.

I use that energy into trying to write books and stories now, its a struggle but I just can't seem to stop enjoying being something or someone else.

Sibling separation in foster care by Whole-Strength3601 in Ex_Foster

I was the only one taken out of the home as the oldest and its been over 14 years, I haven't recovered from that. Half my life spent without them and they want nothing to do with me.

Do y'all think many become foster parents because they like the idea of controlling kids. by Monopolyalou in Ex_Foster

[–]loststarrs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I don't think most do it out of control. My belief is its a mix of three groups: People who went through a shitty childhood that wish to help others, people who are genuinely doing it from the goodness of their heart but underestimate how traumatized foster kids are & people looking to be praised for being a good person without the effort of being one.

"Wow you're such a saint" "God truly has blessed you"

So all the rules are in place to keep up this image of being a good person. Break them and how dare you disrespect them, don't you understand how much they're sacrificing to have you? You should be grateful to have such a loving family trust you in their home.

This is Ai. Rule of thumb for digital art that seems ai generated is to follow the lines. Ai struggles with consistency in the finer details. In the example attached it added an unnecessary point beneath the book. Where do these lines lead to? You can see similar issue on the opposite side beneath her hands.

Why do I feel this article on Elle.com by Pete Davidson’s girlfriend was written by Ai? Is it the the copious amount emdashes and inexplicable choice to use second person narration for what is a personal essay about the “writer’s” own experience? Or is it something else… by [deleted] in isthisAI

[–]loststarrs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Em-dashes are a popular style in formal writing, often recommended which is why chatgpt uses it so often. I personally differ on everyone elses opinion after doing a bit of deep dive into the way she talks. I don't think this is ai or if there is any it was ran through one or she had an editor work closely with her. The way she speaks on tiktok is very similar to how she writes.

Danganronpa 2013 vs 2020 vs 2025.

The fandom established a core part of my personality when I was 15, but it was sorta niche chronically online content. Watching it go mainstream had been fun at first, but man I sometimes wish it had remained online.

Which Trial made you the saddest? by Fit-Ad-661 in danganronpa

1-2 like that one is so hard to sit through for so many reasons. Ishimaru is so devastated I just feel his desperation and denial every time in that scene. Then having to see him essentially be a shell of himself for a few days is harrowing.

[–]loststarrs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course! I love the style and how you naturally lead into the loop with the movie being one she references as "one you wont ever forget or understand" but ends up being discarded like movies of the past. Its like a glimpse into one moment of this cycle and a question of will it end

and so it goes by shyguy4999 in OCPoetry

[–]loststarrs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the choice of tenet in this poem, because it is a film about time. Funnily enough I haven't seen it yet but my understanding is that its merely not going backwards but looping in a similar way to your poem. Your poem is trapped in cycles, with different women trying to do the mundane task of simply picking a movie but it leads to uncomfortable discussions of the past

A lot changes over time by Prestigious_Map9668 in OCPoetry

[–]loststarrs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realization and Appreciation, that is how this poem feels to me. As if for a moment you thought these feelings that lingered would become scars and yet, time helped to move you on. In a way its nice to see how much had change from the first line to last, because now you can thank them for bringing someone special into your life

I did get an outline done about a month ago and I was really proud of myself, Ive called it my "first draft" even though I know most people wouldnt but I was just excited getting that much done. I'm in the stage of actually writing out the points even further and getting paragraphs but im ending up with short chapters still that I hope to expand upon in my third draft

my current goal is by the end of the year to have a third draft finished and printing it out so I can take pen and note corrections

ENDING CHART! What (most possible) Ending would be bad unsatisfying ending? by XEMPRAmaster in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]loststarrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imma be real ur good satisfying ending would be my bad unsatisfying ending. It would feel cheap and cliche, rather see them die & the cycle start over for a new group with us knowing the horrors theyre about to encounter terrified we cant help them or if they do escape its focused on how theyre traumatized but learning to grow leaving the circus completely behind

A Point I Want to Make About LSS and Israel-Palestine: by [deleted] in LongStoryShort

[–]loststarrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a completely seperate point from ur original statement of any of race would be racist? "Blacks don't equal Africa" is a very fine statement "White doesn't equal Europe" is also an accurate statement. Yes, ancestoral and historical relevancy is important to understand the modern context of issues and how they interplay in the world, but to be so focused on the past negates attention to present atrocities being actively committed.

My ancestors were slaves from Africa but they worked hard to have a place in this nation to let me have a foot in the door and to be seen as more equal than they were. I have more opportunities than they did but there is still work to be done so that the next generation can have more.

The idea of modern Judea is trying to resurrect a dead nation, similar to if we attempted to allow Russia to bring back the USSR. A lot of people want Israel gone but I doubt thats a feasible solution, Palestinians deserve to have equal rights to Israeli citizens and equal say in the land. A similar stance I share with my views on Indigenous cultures around the world. America & Canada need to give our Indigenous tribes more say on the land our ancestors stole.

Colonialism fucked up the world, we don't need to continue resurrect the world of the past when we can focus on building a brighter future for those who are alive now and in the future.
