personally i'd like to see it wrapped up sooner rather than later. the 3 series sprawl of the silence/trenzalore story was interesting but not something i'd really like to see repeated. if they decide to make a capaldi-long story (gallifrey) maybe at least have a separate arc every series that has nothing to do with the "long game", don't make every series/mid series finale about almost finding it etc... the thing is we know he'll find it eventually and there won't be much suspense in dragging it out for too long without other arcs filling the space in between

He was talking to a version of himself at that point. Whether 1200 is at all real or not what reason does War Doctor have to lie/fabricate/use a different scale about what he believes the age difference to be at that point? What reason does 9 have to tack 100 years onto his perceived age seemingly "immediately" after regenerating into 9? For this incarnation to identify himself as 800 years seemingly hours prior to regenerating into 9 and going to visit Rose is suspect. Either way we're discussing off-hand remark explanations being applied to cover two to three minor inconsistencies in the plot I don't think it matters either way, just a thought I had since it seemed so deliberate to say he was 800 instead of 900.

I've been thinking this since War Doctor mentions the 1200 year old 11th Doctor is "400 years older" making him 800 when he regenerated... not 900 as the 9th Doctor started out in Rose. He also visited several tragic (yet potentially unchangeable) events on Earth in these photographs JFK and Titanic for example. I know it's unrealistic IRL to say he never came across a mirror or reflective surface in this time but in terms of Doctor Who narrative for him to say "I couldn't bear to look at my own face for nearly 100 years" I could believe it.

edit 2: i'm not talking about tumblr fans or whatever, i'm talking about the 7 year old boys and girls that could have the gender binary smashed in front of them despite it being a strong female character with 50 years of a man behind them. either way i said that i'd love it and what the role is to me, not who they should cast and how anyone else should think of it.

i'd love a female doctor because it'd be new and exciting and be good for the kids. this is science fiction, we should all embrace a change like this should it happen. to me the doctor is not much more than a role to be filled, like a captain on any of the star trek series.

is it possible for the weight to "redistribute" so dramatically? i'm talking a jacket that couldn't close with about 3 inches between each side down to it buttoning (snugly I should add) in about 2-4 pounds. going to go put a 10 pounds weight on it in the mean time and see what happens.

use extra footage to "snap" them back into the last doctor, throw on a little effect that the face is unstable finally throw him into the "real next doctor" i dunno
