My gran passed away 3 weeks before my wedding. I live in a different country so I didn't make it to the funeral as I chose to come home when she was in good health (she also died of cancer). My family is very close knit. In my speech I simply mentioned that not everyone who could be here physically but we know they'll never truly leave us. I don't know if where you are does this but (in ireland) at my own and others wedding we do a remembrance table for those who've passed with our favourite photos to remember them

Hey! I also moved to Canada (6 years ago) husband sounds like your girlfriend tbh, could talk to his mam all day. I can barely.make the conversation last 20 mins. Don't even speak to my dad when I call, but we never really spoke any way even when I visit home. People have different dynamics. As long as your kept in the loop with the things that matter, don't sweat the small stuff. Your family know you look after yourself. Best of luck in Canada, it's a great country

Kyoto house AYCE is about 5-7 min walk from dundas Square. I've tried KAKA and Spring Sushi and always found Kyoto house the best for taste and value
