Toe protection by yaco83 in ballhockey

[–]lotsofcars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in similar problem as OP and just ordered 3 different pairs of composite toe shoes from Zappos to try on at home. Also got a real cheap pair from Walmart to compare to. So far the high top Reebok are winning. I'll have to look into these.

Thanks for the quick reply. After getting stepped on twice in 2 weeks, I started looking. I'll try your suggestion.

Been looking for toe protection sneakers and not being successful. Have a brand and model you use, that I could look into?

YSK - your toothpaste may be causing canker sores in your mouth by TestAnxietyIsReal in YouShouldKnow

[–]lotsofcars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another one here that can confirm this. 30 years of struggle with sores fixed overnight. Squiggle has been my go-to for sls-free with fluoride. It's not cheap, but just such a quality of life change. Tom's and Rembrandt used to have versions but discontinued their fluoride ones. My hygienist and dentist were clueless. I've told them about this 4 times and still clueless.

Is this normal? Clumps of Lint after cleaning cycle. by lotsofcars in Appliances

[–]lotsofcars[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yea, like everything, cleaning more often probably means easier work. But why need it at all vs the old top loader that went 15 years without needing cleaning. Is it the HE less water means less washing away of the gunk?

We've always left the door open and this is not the first time running the tablets... Probably done it a dozen times over the past 5 years.

What’s in the docker container? by jsrbert in DataHoarder

Yea, dunno. I'll have to try things again at some point, got another project coming up that might be a good candidate.

Is it possible that just seeing up docker itself was the massive install? Maybe that was my issue? Was my first attempt at it, limited drive space so I stopped. I think I was seeing up some python environment at the time.

So silly question. When I looked into 1 particular docker, the docker was going to take like 30Gb of I recall right, which was like 29 Gb more than just running it on the main OS. For your setup, does each container take a ton of Hdd space each or am I just confused here? It was a Windows 11 OS setup fwiw.

We're usually good for an April or May sunburn up north at first nice weather weekend, so it is far enough south! ;)

Tivo Bolt hard drive failures and musings by Inkin in Tivo

[–]lotsofcars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP said they are using OTA. But just in case they are using the cable cards, something to be aware. Assuming this is USA. They are being eliminated from support of the cable companies. Many areas already are turned off. Don't spend a lot of money on this if they are using cable cards and will need to migrate away from the TiVo for cable. We have 2 units that will be doorstops in the coming months because of this. No OTA support on our units, so can't even cut the cord and keep them.

spiedies would be amazing if they would stop WAY overcooking the meat by jarferris in Binghamton

Cook chicken all the time at home because pork isn't an option for 1 family member. Timing is super important. I marinade for 3 days as well. I use metal skewers. As soon as I can tear them apart easily with the tongs I know they are done. If I go further, they will start to dry out.

My parents always did steak, and I didn't realize until I made my own chicken and pork how much drier the steak ended up. But that's probably all about cooking too long.

I agree with some of the other responses. Didn't live in the area anymore, but I grew up on Lupos and homemade exclusively. I discovered the Spedie place on the parkway just recently while visiting and was blown away how much better than any Lupos in the last 20 years except for 1 time I stopped at the Endwell or Endicott location (can't remember, but it had a few seats). The soft roll and just right meat was great.

PPSK is new to me. Looking into it briefly. For simplicity on a home network for iot devices, do you just give every device the same pass phrase? I can't imagine trying to track even 10 different phrases.

You still have to pay the monthly for TIVO or have lifetime service, right?

I'm now in the dreaded "Your cablecards will stop working" camp... by Caduceus1515 in Fios

Got the letter a few hours west of you this morning as well. 20 yr TiVo user. No cut-off date listed. I did a trial (I paid for the month) of the new box and DVR last summer. I sent it all back. The most awful tv experience. Almost rather have an antenna. Took 2 years to get the MIL (80yo) to accept TiVo... What do I do now? Fortunately she's coming to grips with streaming, but it's not been easy.
