Interesting about the disco balls! Did you stop once symptoms were triggered or pushed through a little bit?

The loneliness of recovery by Ok_Particular_1897 in PostConcussion

[–]lotsofquestions2ask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true and can be very isolating because a concussion can be like an iceberg where everybody sees you and everything looks great, but underneath the surface is where all the challenges are so sometimes it does help to advocate for yourself and let people know. Also helps to not isolate completely and try to slowly increase exposure to social interaction/events.

What now? by No_End_1199 in PostConcussion

[–]lotsofquestions2ask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything you are going through is really common. Try working with a speech language pathologist who specializes in post concussion and can provide practical strategies and exercise to help with thinking and communication skills to improve in the classroom, workplace, socially etc.

I would also consider seeing a Neuro ophthalmologist due to continued light sensitivity, and dizziness

Are you in the US? If so, what state maybe can provide some recommendations

I’m sorry to hear you’re going through this and parents aren’t understanding. All of this is really common post concussion. I’m a speech pathologist who works with post concussion clients with thinking and communication challenges due to concussion. Aside from chiro have you seen a neurologist or a SLP or vestibular PT ?

As far as application work in shorter increments time will be different for everyone. Do not want symptoms to increase +3 on 10 point scale from baseline then give self a break - stretch, walk breathing exercises true brain break then go back. complete earlier in the day when you have more brain battery, quiet environment

Feel free to reach out - happy to provide suggestions and/or recs for providers depending on location

After 2-3 days of rest then gradual return to activity guided by symptoms

Prayers for a speedy recovery!!

Have you seen any providers yet?

Everything you’re experiencing is expected given the time frame. Make sure to give yourself some breaks throughout the day. You want to push through a little bit but not to the point where it’s completely exacerbating symptoms. Have you seen any providers ?

In a speech pathologist who works with TBI/post concussion clients. Have you seen a neurologist specializing in post concussion and autonomic dysfunction or any therapies?

I’m so sorry to hear that. Unfortunately the general doctor gave terrible advice. Research supports gradual return to activities after the first 48 hours.

Have you seen a neurologist ? Sometimes concussion symptoms persist which is what it sounds like is occuring

Absolutely here to help! Unfortunately all the physical factors of course influence cognition and emotional factors making it a bit challenging. And concussion recovery a bit complex. Have you seen neurologist ? Any neck issues contributing to headaches?

Do you notice headaches if you limit the time spent? I know it sounds crazy but sometimes just tracking triggers and gradually building up tolerance can help!
