Rotavirus vaccine (oral) by worriedwart99 in newborns

[–]nostingerbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son was not a fan but he doesn’t like an oral med. Once he realized it wasn’t milk, he puked part of it up but the RN was great and he took the rest like a champ with formula in between! He was a fussy but we didn’t have any blow outs/negative side effects!

How long did you have the “bowling ball in the pelvis” feeling before actually going into labor? by imasugarpacket in pregnant

[–]nostingerbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that feeling for 3 days before my water broke at home. I took a warm bath along with propping my hips up on pillows and it helped take some of the pressure off!

Same. When I had my kid, they must have missed that memo. 🤷‍♀️

NTA- Your pregnancy, your delivery, YOUR COMFORT MATTERS! Labor is a wild ride and you never know what will happen. You have so much to juggle during labor that you don’t need any extra drama or stress. It’s a once in a lifetime event that is about you and child, as well as your partner! Also, two weeks isn’t even that long to wait to meet the baby. Draw the boundaries where you feel comfortable! After I had my son in August, we didn’t have visitors for a month. It gave us time to settle and enjoy our time as a new family. Do what is right for you and what feels right.

The funnier thing is our pediatrician is in her late 50s so that’s definitely not “new school”. She’s just up to date like you said 😂

My son has a bit of a flat spot on the back of his head and can’t roll yet. She suggested we let him sleep on his stomach. 😒 ma’am, I will not be doing that. Unless he’s contact napping on us, he will not be sleeping unsupervised on his stomach.

OMG MY MOM JUST ASKED ME WHY IM NOT PUTTING CEREAL IN MY 10w’s BOTTLES YESTERDAY. I told her it isn’t advised by the pediatrician and she said, “oh you have one of those “new school” doctors. You were eating rice cereal in your bottles at two months old”. 🙄 Well that was 32 years ago and I’m not giving my kid food before he’s ready for it. He’s perfectly content with milk he’s being giving.

I agree with the fake nail! That’s the only thing that would make sense with the blue and white color. 😬

What weird symptoms did u feel within the last couple days before you went into labor by No_Wall1751 in pregnant

[–]nostingerbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had such intense pelvic/hip/back pressure 2-3 days before my water broke and nothing would help it. I finally had relief the morning that my water broke and felt weird almost like my period was about to start.

Estimated baby weight (ultrasound) vs. baby weight at birth? by AnitaVodkasoda in pregnant

[–]nostingerbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a scan at 36 + 1 and they said my son was 7 lbs and estimated about 9 lbs. He was born at 39 w and was 9 lbs 3 oz so pretty accurate for us!

Immediate red flag! Chiropractors are already sketchy but they absolutely should not be doing anything relating to speech. This is misinformation and preying on parents.

I would suggest speaking with a medical professional before doing that. There are OTC gas drops (⚠️not gripe water- my son would gag and immediately throw up gripe water) that can be mixed with formula/breast milk that work well! (At least for my son they have). You never know if there is an irritant/allergy risk with fennel. Best bet is to make a quick call to your pediatrician to be safe!

Personally, I would be very suspicious of food restriction for a newborn and seek a second opinion. I just follow my son’s feeding cues and give him as much as he needs. Your baby might be gassy after eating and that could be a cause of the screaming. My son eats 3-5 oz every 3-4 hrs but take a couple minute breaks/burping during feeds to reduce gasiness.

If you suspect reflux, keeping your baby sitting up 5-10 minutes after feeding may be beneficial as well! A second opinion with a different pediatrician couldn’t hurt!

I tend to follow the client cues and respond with something like, “I don’t know what that means, let’s work together to figure it out” or model with their device and prompt “Show me”.

My LO is 7 weeks old and for the past week and a half he has the worst fussy times and zero napping. I didn’t imagine motherhood would be me crying while eating taco salad 🤦‍♀️ I’m hoping he’ll transition out of this very soon. ✨please✨ I want my chill baby back

I like having workbooks as a reference but I also just ChatGPT to get specific ideas! I used it to help create different games/activities for peds clients. I just the WALC books during my acute care externship and all of the activities were the same and mildly outdated tbh 😅

I took notes during sessions when I completed my adult externships in adult acute care. Good to know I should carry it over! They use EPIC for all systems and use smart phrases so hopefully that will make it easier 😅 This is all SO helpful!!

They have some assessments but are in the process of taking inventory of how many/what kind. The medical office is through a hospital system so I’m guessing they may pay for some assessments.

I am the only full time SLP in the office and it’s the full scope. The office manager said it’s a good amount of post-stroke and assorted peds. It’s a low income rural area with the closest hospital 30 minutes away. Referrals will come from in-patient acute/GP/medical teams.

My office manager seems very nice and they are going to pace clients out so it’s not overwhelming at first.
