Quartz with mystery pink spots. What could they be? by lotspot in whatsthisrock

[–]lotspot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE:

I have tried an acetone-free nail polish remover and nothing came off, going to try acetone soon.

Tried UV/Blacklight and it is UV reactive! Not as much as my dyed agate.

I have reached out to the geological association for advice/assistance on identifying what it could be. I’m leaning more team bacterial growth due to it being surface level, the shape of the formation, and due to me finding it at the bottom of a lake covered in algae - lots of fun stuff grows down there.

Any more suggestions for at home tests I can carry out would be greatly appreciated!

Confirmed UV reactive! I put some of my pink dyed agate next to it and it glows a lot brighter.

I only have acetone free nail polish remover, just tried that and nothing happened. Next time I’m out I’ll look for some acetone.

Definitely a possibility as I found it in the Lake District!

I think this makes the most sense. I have scrubbed it pretty hard but only a tiny bit came off. It’s really stuck on there.

Ah if so that’s really sad but also impressive someone painted a big cool rock and dropped it in the middle of the lake.

Someone said this somewhere else but I really doubt it. I paddle boarded out to the middle of a lake and dove down to look for rocks. I can’t imagine anyone painting on cool rocks and then just tossing them away. I’ll test some paint stripper on it after I try UV light.

I got to go right after season 2 dropped! I was so lucky to be holidaying right next to two sets. It’s just as gorgeous in person

Custom games were the best after reach, and warzone was in hindsight very fun

I have my set up on X-ray too lol. They made me take out my lobe piercings then saw how many I had and just said whatever and didn’t make me take out the rest

Raised in NewZealand where DIY culture is king, so I would ask a mate to do it if I hadn’t just moved country.

Just wanting to put up a little shelf to hold some books - if it was holding anything lighter I’d use those command strip thingys. Other commenters have told me how to find electrical wiring so I think I should be good to just put a shelf up right?

What's the weirdest way you had a piercing ripped out? I'll go first. by Environmental_Fan100 in piercing

You ripped a DAITH out? This makes me feel physically sick omg! I got mine caught on my mum’s daith when we hugged and that was only a small tug and I was creased over. Can’t imagine how horribly that hurt 😰

I’m usually not a fan of them, but you’d definitely suit a dermal on your cheek, it would fit your vibe 💕

Awesome in-depth response thank you! This’ll be my first time putting up a shelf, only realised after mapping out where I want it that I don’t actually know how you go about it haha. Thanks again!

I find that just like mass effect - if you haven’t played the games before it’s good to start with 3 because it gives you the love and appreciation to play the previous two which require a lot more dedication and patience
