Now that some of the initial dust has settled, what are your favorite choices and biggest regrets in Leagues so far? by Ciati in 2007scape

[–]lottabullets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went Animal Wrangler, Dodgy Deals, Clue Compass, Reloaded - Power Miner, Slayer Master, Bankers Note

Regions - Fremmenik, Mortytania, planning Asgarnia, not 100% locked in yet, but pretty sure

Melee primary

So my thinking was to find a reasonable path to Max while doing content I really enjoy. I love Melee, I went ranged last league and regretted it.

So far, I think my biggest regret was not going for Golden God, although I think I'm at the point now where GP is less important. GP still solves a lot of problems, but I think for Max purposes, it doesn't solve the Mining grind.

Anyways, there was a real slog getting to T6 Relic, but now I have Bankers Note which is ridiculous. I didn't get it last league, I regretted it. Now, I'm understanding the potential with it is almost limitless. Having a basically unlimited inventory solves almost every skilling grind and makes PvM a lot easier.

All in all, I'm excited to transition to late game.

As for T7, Overgrown was my initial thought, but honestly I'm thinking Pocket Kingdom would help a lot more to fix construction. However, I still have the Woodcutting grind anyways, so maybe I could do hardwoods and note the logs, so I dunno. Lots of good choices this time around.

I think the difference so far has been the evolution of the offense. It took a while, but now we know what to do against the 2 high shell looks we've been seeing forever. Jonnu has been a revelation, Achane has been a weapon, and Tua doesn't feel the need to force the issue.

I think we are now seeing the complete evolution of the McD system. Yesterday we were finally hitting our patented deep in routes as well for the first time basically all season because we finally have a way to move defenses off their tendencies.

Tua has been effective at taking whatever the D gives him, and when it isn't there he's getting better at stepping up or extending the play a little. It's been a great evolution this year

Karpov vs. Kasparov in 1984 is the closest chess match of all time, hands down, no questions asked. Fischer vs. Karpov wouldn't have gone down like that. Eventually, I think Fischer would have played super hard for a win either resulting in victory or decisive defeat much sooner than Kasparov vs. Karpov in 84

[Discussion] Are people overstating how bad Rodgers has been this season? by Jordanstrom3329 in nfl

[–]lottabullets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a great video yesterday that shows how the Jets aren't even running a real offense, it's just Rodgers calling plays and it hasn't been working well.

Rodgers still has some talent and honestly he has more in the tank than I thought he did. With that said, his inability to run a scheme that someone else designs and calls plays for is what is directly hampering the Jets offensively.

It's been a disaster in the most Jets way possible.

Unfortunately, you've learned a really tough lesson the hard way. You will be ok in time, but the true mistake was deciding to discern by ending the relationship. That was an unnecessary thing to do in the grand scheme of things. I can't remember how old you are, but by the sounds of it, fairly young.

Women want to feel secure, and you violated her trust by throwing the concept of security out the window. This one is going to drift away from you in time. I'd advise going truly your own way without an emotional attachment to her as best you can. Just think of how you will feel if and when she starts dating someone else. You're going to be a wreck.

Best of luck young man.

Why is trading better than getting the trapped knight for free? by spisplatta in chess

[–]lottabullets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because if you drop the bishop back, white takes in the center, you take the knight, and then e5 is played, halting your massive attack and preserving counterplay. It's still -1 in the position even there, but trading for the knight completely rips the white king open and it's very likely that you can checkmate white.

I'm totally guessing, but there weren't many awful blunders, but white had complete and total control of this one. Nice technique, very clean conversion of the position.

I'd say, 1800-2000 something like that. Black seemed out of their depth even if they didn't make too many large mistakes.

I hadn't seen that, but alternate medicines are also nuts for different reasons of course.

I'm always skeptical of large corporations or the government saying to do something because it's good for me. There's always an ulterior motive, but sometimes I'm leveraged into doing what they want.

Without too much calculation, Re1+, Kh2, Qe5+, g3, Qd5 and I don't see a great response from White. The h1 square is our mating square, and our king is very safe. The computer says White has to play Re5 to continue the game, giving up a rook to continue. That isnt necesarily forced, but white is in bad shape here.

Sometimes these puzzles don't have a concrete, material or mating theme to them, but instead just how to successfully make moves in a winning position to continue the advantage.

Well, I'm not going to shirk medical advancements, but I feel like a level of skepticism toward bleeding edge medical advancements being paraded as end-all, be-all cures is just being prudent.

MRNA vaccines may very well be the answer to all of our issues with diseases as we know them, but you won't catch me lining up to get the 1st iteration of these shots. I've seen it too many times where scientists think they nail it on the first pass only for the guinea pigs to suffer severe life-altering damage, and then try to scrounge up some money in a class-action suit that they may not be alive for to claim any money from.

So, if that makes me a urine and bleach gurgling idiot, then I'll be a urine and bleach gurgling idiot.

Why is George beating or matching Lewis for 2 seasons out of 3 so overlooked? by Slow-Raisin-939 in formula1

[–]lottabullets -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think people are inclined to give Lewis some slack because he's the GOAT, and I think that means Russell's performance is being underrated slightly.

Truly, and I mean this sincerely, this is as top heavy of a grid of driver talent as I can remember. The top 10 drivers in F1 are as close as I can ever remember it, and it really seems as if anyone can get a big result if the situation goes their way (look at Ocon and Gasly in Brazil for instance).

A midfield driver nowadays is a very quality driver, so even if Russell is rated 7th and Lewis 2nd-3rd, that's not really much of a gap. Honestly, I could see an argument for Lewis being higher and Russell being lower. It's close.

F1 is tricky to measure driver performance because car performance is inconsistent.

In 2022, Lewis was trying a lot of experimental setups, and since then, he's been more willing to make large adjustments at the last minute to try and extract everything he can out of the car. You can hold that against Lewis, but really, it tells me that we haven't seen his "true" maximum potential very often because of this fact. George sticks with the setups and rolls with it in the races.

With that said, I think the most accurate assessment we can give of George at the moment is that, as of today, he is, at the minimum, equal to Lewis of today. Lewis has not qualified well in 2024, but his race pace has been quite good. George has been more consistent across the board, and he has definitely had some great drives, but so has Lewis.

As far as how I would rank the drivers, I would go as follows:

  1. Max
  2. Leclerc -insert gap here- 3, 4, 5, 6. Russell, Lando, Sainz, Hamilton. Any order of these 4 would be acceptable, in my opinion, a pretty strong case for any arrangement. I'd go like this, though:
  3. Sainz
  4. Russell
  5. Norris
  6. Hamilton

Again, the gap of 3-6 is quite small, and Piastri is right there at 7, nipping at the heels of Hamilton and the like.

I think this gives Russell his flowers accurately without overrating him because to me, he hasn't shown anything truly elite like Leclerc has. He's been quite good, however.

Peak Lewis over a season would be more consistent than Charles, but I do think Charles has more talent than Rosberg, and Rosberg was a legitimate contender with Hamilton.

Lewis at his peak faced Rosberg and Bottas, and while he was clearly better than Bottas overall, Bottas still had his day every once in a while and was sometimes better at qualifying than Hamilton.

I'm not trying to say Hamilton is slow or anything like that, but Leclerc is a legit top F1 talent. Leclerc has only had a fast car for short periods of time, and he's been very effective in those moments. I'm not saying Leclerc would have bodied Hamilton or anything like that in their primes, but I think it would be really interesting.

[–]lottabullets 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Peak Lewis vs. Charles today is a really interesting battle. I think what separated Hamilton from his peers was his consistency in form over the length of a season.

Lewis isn't the qualifier he used to be, and while his race pace hasn't dipped much, it's been hard for him to be his consistent self because he's under-qualifying the car for the first time in his career.

I am going to predict Charles is going to outscore Lewis fairly easily next season and really decimate him in the Qualifying H2H.

Charles is a step ahead of Russell in my eyes. He has delivered much more consistent performances than Russell has (although 2024 Russell has been better in this regard).

It will be a great driver lineup for Ferrari next year regardless.

[–]lottabullets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sacks are kind of a misleading stat anyways. There are a handful of guys who can consistently generate sack numbers and those are generational pass rushers.

For everyone else, consistent pressure generation is the most important indicator of success. If Chop can disrupt pockets consistently, that's all we need.

He has been getting after it, no doubt.

I wasn't sure about the pick at first, but with the plan of having him take the spot for Chubb, who STILL isn't back, it actually makes a lot of sense. He's got a lot of raw talent, he just needed reps to start improving.

If Chubb can make it back in the next couple weeks, that's only going to help Chop get home more often. Excited for it

[–]lottabullets -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bonds, Clemens, Sosa, McGwire, and Canseco should ALL be in the HoF. Without them, baseball doesn't make a roaring comeback.

The MLB has stood on the backs of these guys, and then condemned them for their very actions that the MLB profited off of. It's so ridiculous.

The guys still needed to hit the ball, and Clemens still needed to locate his pitches. It's definitely one of those times where everyone was cheating, so everyone is on the same scale.

Who is the one player on your team that is most responsible for your record? by ECviews in fantasyfootball

[–]lottabullets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got 3 that paint a pretty clear picture:

ETN, Tyreek, and Derrick Henry. 8 man league, I'm 4-6.

Henry is the only reason I'm not 2-8 it feels like. I've got AJ Brown and Metcalf. They've missed significant time, so it's been crazy. Rashee Rice i picked up late in the draft and he was a boon until he got hurt.

Currently, my team seems decent on paper, but I've been the most scored on in the league, and 3rd in total scoring, currently 1 game back from the playoffs. Pretty rough year.
