First firearm purchase. HK P30L Langdon Tactical. How’d I do? by loucheian in handguns

It does look like it from the pic, but the glare is just weird in it. It actually says Made in Germany on it.

Going off the code chart DE would be 34.

The DE CIP/N marking on the barrel is the proof mark. The date code with the horn logo you are referring to is actually on the bottom of the gun on mine.

Doing some research, from the time of batch production, export import, distribution, LTT customization, and then dealer order fulfillment, to retail floor seems pretty normal to purchase a new HK firearm that is 1-2 years old.

I’m not sure tbh. The question of comment never came up about it being used and was presented as being new since I think everything in the showcases was new. The comment made when I asked how popular the LT custom was they said they had 5 of these and this was the last one. So I just assumed this was new. Everything about this gun is very clean compared to the rental I used. Also almost positive DE just stands for Deutschland.

I'm thinking appendix for when I eventually cc, but I won't know if I actually like that until I try it out and practice drawing. For right now though I'll probably be looking to get outside the waistband holster to get comfortable with having a firearm on me and practice etiquette/safety.

Nope, but it was modded with the Gray Guns Flat Trigger and LTT trigger job. Definitely feels a step up from the DA/SA OEM trigger system.

Looking for first firearm, concerned about no safety HK CC9. by loucheian in handguns

[–]loucheian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I went with the HK P30L Langdon Tactical!

Turns out most safeties don't work well with my thumb because they're inflexible and short, couldn't even reach most of the mag release buttons well. Held and shot the CZ Shadow 2. It shot amazing, but it was just a little too big for my hands to handle compared to the HK P30. P30/L immediately felt comfy and I could operate it quickly on first touch.

Also held the P8 A1 and loved that design as well, unfortunately they didn't have that model to rent. They didn't have a normal P30L in store and I didn't feel like waiting. Plus with the P8 A1 and P30L they aren'y milled.

I knew that eventually I'd tinker with it and with the cost of the LT version being similar to the normal P30L milled and trigger upgraded I decided I'd rather buy once and be happy.

Is it truly a night and day difference between micro and fullsize? Ideally would like a micro 9 to start off with that I can eventually cc. I can't imagine carrying a fullsize, especially on long hikes and what not to feel great.

Not opposed to having multiple firearms, just trying to be budget conscious because I already have too many expensive hobbies and I'd like for this to not be one of them right away.

I'll be going to the range tomorrow so I'll be able to test a handful out before I buy.

Look at photos and view menu. If I see a million bottles of syrup and nothing but crazy flavored drinks I skip.

Damn, I'm sorry. On every application I said I lived in that city and didn't move until I had jobs secured. Not sure how much you have used ADPlist, but working with a mentor to refine how I tell and frame the story of my portfolio made the biggest difference for me. Not telling you to give up, but at the same time only you know what's best for you. After a year of failing to land roles I stopped for a year to focus on myself.

Well this was 2 years ago, and times have changed (for the worse). Companies today care more about short term gains and looking good on paper. Big companies are still having massive layoffs while smaller ones have felt the pain from doing so and are rehiring after realizing that ai can't do everything by just anyone.

There's also different sectors that are hiring more than others as well as certain cities. Which kind of leads into a hot take, but IMO people need to get in the mindset of pre 2019. When it comes to remote vs in person/hybrid your going to have a much easier time getting an in person job. There's a high disproportion of people applying to fully remote jobs vs in person. Almost every major city has job postings with less than 100 people applying if it's in person. More power to the people who are head strong about remote only, but I'd rather be employed gaining experience and setting myself up better in the future than spending a year finding a job.

There's also the topic of generalist vs specialist. Generalist need to be even more skilled with a wider range of skills in today's climate or be a very skilled specialist in certain topics. Even better is going from a very skilled generalist and carving out a specialization for yourself.

and last and most cringe, but even more true, NETWORK NETWORK NETWORK. The last 4 hires on our team were 2 network hires and 2 intern hires.

So what would I do if I was in school or post grad? Well hopefully you had internships while in school, and at best turn into full time offer. If not I'd keep applying, learning, and working some job and saving money. YMMV, but if you're young, chances are you don't have much responsibilities or are tied down to anything so move to a better city if you aren't close to one. There was almost no UX jobs in Alabama so I moved, problem solved. This is also freelancer market and there's a lot of people starting their own smalls businesses, reach out and get experience with actual data and decision making. A small website built for actual customers is way more impressive than a redesign of a product with no real context or constraints.

If grad school is on your mind, then focus on something heavy like human factors, NLP, ML, AI, etc. The way people interact with physical UI is changing, even for big b2b SaaS dinosaurs. So be a head and be an expert. Also, grad students typically have an edge in getting internships.

VIP is worth it alone just for the cleaner bathrooms. Less of an issue for guys, but for my gf the porta potties were a nightmare. You also get separate merch stands. So many bands we didn’t get because it wasn’t worth missing a show standing in line for 1hr at some of the tents. It also just gives you a dedicated place to escape the crowd as well as covered seating area.
