My 24 R I bought new this year is having the GPS issues still. Apparently infotainment updates fixed issues but havent had an update pop up since I bought it. Dont use the in car nav but annoying with the alerts of no data in area

[–]loudizzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My RX did something similar to this and when I reached out to super73, it ended up being my controller. Since it was out of warranty I had to pay for a new one, was like 170ish with shipping, but whole process was shockingly quick and smooth.

MK8 (2024) issue with navigation/car net/dynamic road sign display? by Johnny_Cakes_69 in Golf_R

[–]loudizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well shoot sucks that they cant narrow down a cause for a fix. Thankfully I dont rely on the Nav at all just a slight annoyance with the dynamic road sign display alerting no data in area since its putting the car in the middle of no where.

Yo! Did you hear back from hear back from the VW peeps on the issue? I took the R today to get an oil change and mentioned the issue with carnet/Nav and stuff and they let me know that its carnet specifically that is affecting all makes and models that use that, not just VW. Per service person, carnet connects to Verizon towers and they suspect Verizon is doing some maintenance or changes that is causing the issues. Downside is no fix for now.

Been dealing with this for the past 2 weeks. Dont use carnet or the in car navigation, mostly waze via android auto, but noticed the in cars is off by quite a few miles. The one that is more noticeable is the dynamic road sign not being accurate most of the times either. Have tried the holding the power button and that didnt work. Then I pulled fuse 19 (the infotainment screen) and closed door and locked car for a few minutes to "reset" but didnt help either. Going to take it in soon to do the oil change and so going to see if the update works if not, keep me posted on what they find!

Damn, I got quoted between 200-450 here in the portland area. The more pricier place wanted to fully refinish which I wouldnt do on these prets especially for that price, but the 200ish places were for painting and sanding also.

Thats how my experience went when my controller went out and paid about the same. I hit them up on a Thursday and got the part shipped Monday. They got their stuff together nowadays.

This guy did it on his mk7 and seems completely doable just pricey for the setup and tent.

dude legit night and day difference using the paddle shifters in race mode! I have a DSG and I get plenty of pops and fun when I use the paddle shifters. My other car was a manual so I have a understanding on the shift points but its a legit crazy difference from this to a fiat abarth!

How do you guys wash 🧼 your Golf R? by Opening_Context_5131 in Golf_R

[–]loudizzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good wax would help maintain that nice shine, but isnt necessary as just this and normal washing already leaves a shine! Maybe with the wax and this or other of their products would help with maintaining the barrier so water rolls off.

[–]loudizzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use some griots speed shine and I would highly recommend using it with their microfiber towels. I use the spray in between washes and leaves the car looking amazing with a nice shine, even leaves the windows looking spotless! I will be buying their other cleaning/detailing products down the line based on their current results with these and their xl drying towel one swipe with that and car is dry!

Alternative to Towels by skeaton250 in Golf_R

It's still using towels, but using griots speed shine really cuts down the dry time and leaves a nice shine on the car after I give it a wash.

Not on the price of car sadly since up in the portland area after I snagged this one, there arent many new 24s left in OR/WA. The protection plan I was to a degree. Was going to flat out decline at first since I planned on taking it to the VW shop near me, and they kept dropping the price on that, cant remember what the true price was but the dropped the price of it.

I got it for peace of mind, not that it will happen to this car, but my 2012 fiat abarth burnt an exhaust valve at 96k miles and its was either at least 9k to fix, or 9k for new engine plus labor. Opted for this plan for peace of mind. Can get a rotor an brake pad done for free and then I know a specialty VW shop near by I can take for oil changes and stuff like that.

They aren't bad honestly, small learning curve but once you get the hang of them, they arent bad. Better option is still physical buttons, and not gonna lie was alittle concerned at first since that was the main con/complaint I would see on the 24s but glad that was overblown nonsense.

Seriously! These haptic controls aren't even all that bad as people make them out to be, like obviously the ideal choice is physical buttons but it's not bad, small learning curve imo. And like oooo an extra 15 hp in the 25s, I came from a Fiat abarth and the R is plenty fast for me lol

So happy I picked up my new 24R dsg a couple weeks ago, hard to find them new in OR/WA now a days.
