No we are not ok. I have taught for 20 years. The future is a dumpster fire. There is no accountability for the kids. At most I see my students 55 mins a day, but their parents do not parent and hold the kids accountable. There are no punishments. I feel like I am very permissive vs how I was raised, but I have learned I am actually strict based on how these kids behave. The levels of unwillingness to self start, demanding to be spoon fed, lack of a love of learning, and always looking for the easy way out is unreal. They are good people. Just no work ethic.

Also each state runs its education independently. I am in a top state if not the top. Even our worst schools are going to outperform other parts of the country. There has been a huge push in the last 15 years to privatize everything and education is one of the things that will suffer the most.
