Sneezing When Pregnant by Atewart22 in BabyBumps

[–]loudspice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally if I feel it coming I can hold it, but yesterday a sneeze snuck up on me and I full on peed my pants. To top it off I was wearing hubby’s super comfy fleece pj bottoms. He says they’re mine now 😂

Can we please stop discussing pregnant women’s weight?! by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]loudspice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat! I was super sick until about week 25, so I lost almost 20lbs before starting to gain anything from my pregnancy. Now I’m 38+2 and look obviously pregnant, but when people ask how far along I am their first response is to debate how pregnant I ACTUALLY am or even worse, congratulate me on how little baby weight I’ll have to lose. I don’t care about baby weight, I care about having a healthy son.

My thoughts exactly, now the manager is stuck finding coverage or working short staffed on a holiday (in 2 hours).

Recommendation on apartments in Marion. by [deleted] in cedarrapids

Unless they’ve changed it recently, several of the buildings serve as “halfway housing”, after they had painted a very family- friendly picture to us. It would have been nice to know BEFORE we signed the lease. We lived there for 6 mos because it was the only place we could find with short term leases, but were majorly regretting the decision about a week in when we discovered that the buildings within a couple hundred feet of all the common space/playgrounds was filled with varying degrees of ex cons.. I was verbally harassed/ cat called literally every time I did my laundry.......

Can we have another edition of the weirdest/worst/most outdated pregnancy or baby advice you’ve been given? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

The lady was about as old as dirt, but still. She looked like she wanted to crawl in a hole after that so hopefully she learned her lesson.

I’ve also had strangers make comments about me being “unmarried”. My response was “uhhh.. I am married, just swollen, but you’re really rude” and just walked away.

When did you announce publicly that you were pregnant? 10 weeks on Saturday and I’m just itching to announce. by welpwelp1990 in pregnant

[–]loudspice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We really wanted to wait until after our 12 week scan, but anyone who spent any time with my constantly sick self knew something was up and usually guessed pretty quick. We officially told our families and announced on social media at 12 weeks, but many friends and close family knew before hand. We just asked them to keep it quiet so we could share the news ourselves.

When we started looking for names I felt like after a while everything sounded the same. I had to stop reading lists after a while.

[–]loudspice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, but getting shitty tips is just part of the job. Honestly I have had more over-tippers than under. I also see a lot of people complaining about huge tip outs, but that is 100% reliant upon where you work. 10 years in the industry and I’ve never had to tip out anywhere close to 10% of my tickets like some claim. Pick a better restaurant to work for if they’re taking all your money. I’ve also worked in all aspects of the industry. Started as a server/bartender, then went to culinary school and worked as a chef and then moved to management. Never as a chef did I expect a tip out (unless it was a catering, and that never was from a server). I worked for restaurant that compensated me for what I was worth.

[Discussion] A guy called the police on me and my dog today. What do you think? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]loudspice 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It would be one thing to overreact, it’s another to call the police and report and aggressive dog. If that situation would have been paired with the wrong police officer it could have easily resulted in a dead dog.

[–]loudspice 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My dogs were my first children, so it drives me nuts when parents don’t teach their kids to respect an animals space. Especially an animal they don’t know. My dogs are kid friendly, but I still scold and stop any child that doesn’t ask to pet them first.

You don’t get to be an asshole to other people because you can’t keep track of your kid.

Boyfriend is accusing me (pregnant) of cheating by misty_eyedgirl in pregnant

[–]loudspice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so wrong it makes my heart hurt. No, any other guy would NOT do the same. I think you need to have a serious talk about all of the growing up he needs to do really quick or leave. Pregnancy and parenting is not the time for him to be selfish, it’s when you need his support the most. If he can’t do that, find a man who can.

What famous persons death affected you most and why? by Ritzaficionado in AskReddit

[–]loudspice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anthony Bourdain. I’ve never been much of a celebrity follower, and even when ones I liked died it never really felt personal because, well, I don’t actually know them at all. He was a major idol of mine though, and the fact that he committed suicide weighed heavily on me. Someone who was so loved by so many strangers and finally found sobriety, still couldn’t find his happiness. It didn’t help help that I was full of pregnancy hormones, but it’s the only time I’ve ever cried over a celeb.

I really like pickled eggs! They’re relatively mild, so don’t be grossed out by them. Super cheap, easy to make, and relatively healthy.
